Week 1 40/40 Challenge readings!
Today's extra challenge is: What is your purpose for this challenge? What is your goal?
Okay some of you may be saying this is the first I have heard about this challenge- I get it! So ask God what He would like to accomplish in this next 40 days!
Extra points if you add a post about what your purpose is in the next 40 days!
I am on a challenge for the next 40 days! Would you like to join me? So here is how it works! We are reading the book of Luke for 40 days and walking 1 mile every day during this challenge. During your walk, focus on Jesus! Listen to Luke, pray, listen to worship music, or a Christian podcast. The idea is to make this mile focused on our Savior!
I will have challenges along the way to help us grow closer to him!
So, who's with me???
Make sure you post what you are doing, insights, things for us to lift you up in prayer about during our journey! I will send out a week's worth of readings every week to keep us on track!
So, get your tennis shoes on so we can walk closer to Christ!
Today I’m finishing up the last few chapters of my Bible study this year and thinking ahead to what does God want me to focused on next.
I know there are many of you who are praying for your Word for the year, what new Bible reading plan to choose, goals for your Walk with God etc- would you consider this scripture:
Luke 6:46-49
(Jesus said) “Why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?
Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words acts on them, I will show you whom he is like:
He is like a man building a house, who dug and laid a foundation on the rock; and when’s flood occurred, the torrent burst against that house and could not shake it, because it has been well built.
But the one who has heard and has not acted accordingly, is like a man who built a house on the ground without any foundation; and the torrent burst against it and immediately it collapsed, and the ruin of the house was great.”
Build well this year! Dig a deeper foundation. And listen to what the Spirit is teaching you and do it! I think that is the part we leave out. At this time of year everyone seems to be reflecting on the past and making plans for the future. As you reflect be honest with yourself and ask this question:
“Did I act on what I studied in the Word of God/Bible study/ devotional (fill in the blank) or did I treat it like a novel to just read for the sake of reading?”
Challenge: Dive into a book in the Bible with the intention to do what it says. Maybe even invite a couple of friends to join you for accountability. Write down your thoughts as the Holy Spirit nudges you to make changes or to start a frightening adventure out of your comfort level.
Last thought back to the scripture in Luke 7: we never know what will happen this year- life happens! When we dig deep foundations and the storms of life come crashing in- we can feel overwhelmed with the water over our heads but when the tide goes out, We Are Still Standing!
Build this year! Seek God!
Excited that hear from you on where God leads you!
