๐๐ Attendance Awareness Month is here! ๐
Let's come together to highlight the importance of regular school attendance. Did you know that students who attend school consistently are more likely to achieve academic success and build strong social skills? ๐ซโจ
Families, teachers, and students โ let's work hand in hand to ensure our children are present, engaged, and ready to learn every single day! Here are a few tips to promote good attendance:
Set a Routine: Establish a consistent sleep schedule and morning routine.
Create a Positive Environment: Encourage a love for learning at home.
Communicate: Keep an open line of communication between parents and teachers.
Support: Offer help when students face challenges that may hinder attendance.
Together, we can make a difference! Let's celebrate by committing to being present and making every school day count. ๐๐
SES families! ๐ Such a great opportunity for your little Eagle!

Friday in Kindergarten!! ๐
Kinder students have been rocking their school by jumping right into their new curriculum! To celebrate, they had a Pete the Cat "Rock Their School Day" that reviewed & extended some of the standards they have covered so far. Their day was full of fun hands-on activities!
First, students got to string out syllables on their guitars, which is a big focus within the new structured literacy piece of HMH.
Next, students got to use 3D glasses to help identify numbers 1-10, where they recorded it by matching the number with the same amount of objects. This practice has been a big skill within the new math supplement, Envision!
Another activity involved the students practicing color words, which was a review from their previous color days. There was another activity that involved the students identifying 2D shapes (a great extension practice as they are learning about shapes for their next unit within the Georgia Standards of Excellence).
To add in some extra fun for the day, the students got to make their own groovy snack of chocolate โmudโ and mixed in their own ingredients by sequencing their steps of making their mud snack! Each activity tied into a Pete the Cat book as well. These Eagles had so much rocking their school for the day!
Fit Friday at Sugarmill! ๐
Today, our Sugarmill Administrators Mrs. Slattery, Mrs. Harper, and Mr. Coley joined Mrs. Williams' Kindergarten class for PE! Mrs. Joiner and Mrs. Lynch led the group in a lively warm-up, followed by some exciting fitness activities. SES Kindergarteners have been learning how to play relay games recently, and today was the perfect opportunity to put their skills to the test! ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐ช
We love seeing our students stay active and engaged. Thank you to our incredible staff for making PE fun for our Eagles! ๐ฅฐ

Friday in Mrs. Renshaw's Room!
Last week in our new HMH curriculum, first grade focused on friendship. Our story, โA Kidโs Guide to Friends,โ taught us all about how to make friends and be a good friend to others. To celebrate what we learned, we had a โFun Food Fridayโ and made a special Friendship Fruit Salad! Each ingredient represented our wonderful classroom โ kind friends, hardworking students, and kids who use kind words and hands.
We also talked about how we only want positive attitudes in our classroom. We had a juicy apple that looked good on the outside, but when we cut it open, it was rotten inside. The kids decided we didnโt want to add a โbad appleโ to our friendship salad. This sparked a great discussion about how we all want to be kind, positive, and supportive โ just like our fruit salad!
Weโre so grateful to have a class full of Eagles who are as sweet as can be! ๐๐๐
Thanks to our wonderful and supportive friends at Walmart, the Eagles at Sugarmill are fully equipped with school supplies. We appreciate your generous contribution, which helps our Eagles soar high at Sugarmill!
First grade students love Pete the Cat! After reading Pete the Cat books, students created their own Pete the Cat and shared some fun facts about themselves. Our eagles love practicing their writing skills in fun and creative ways. As Pete would say, "it's all good!"

๐๐ข๐ ๐๐จ๐ฎ ๐๐ง๐จ๐ฐ: School buses are the most regulated vehicles on the road. Theyโre designed to be safer than passenger vehicles in preventing crashes and injuries, and in every state, stop-arm laws exist to protect children from other motorists.
If you are driving, remember these simple rules:
โ ๐๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐จ๐ฐ ๐๐ฅ๐๐ฌ๐ก๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฅ๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ๐ฌ ๐จ๐ง ๐ ๐ฌ๐๐ก๐จ๐จ๐ฅ ๐๐ฎ๐ฌ ๐ฆ๐๐๐ง ๐ฌ๐ฅ๐จ๐ฐ ๐๐จ๐ฐ๐ง โ donโt speed up โ because the bus is preparing to stop. There are - likely students waiting to get on the bus or parents waiting nearby to pick up children.
โ ๐๐๐ ๐๐ฅ๐๐ฌ๐ก๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฅ๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ๐ฌ ๐ฆ๐๐๐ง ๐ฌ๐ญ๐จ๐ฉ โ and wait at least 20 feet behind the bus โ because children are getting on or off the school bus. Stay stopped until the red lights stop flashing, the extended stop-arm is withdrawn, and the bus begins moving.
โ ๐๐ฏ๐๐ง ๐ฐ๐ก๐๐ง ๐ฅ๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ๐ฌ ๐๐ซ๐๐งโ๐ญ ๐๐ฅ๐๐ฌ๐ก๐ข๐ง๐ , ๐ฐ๐๐ญ๐๐ก ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐๐ก๐ข๐ฅ๐๐ซ๐๐ง, particularly in the morning or mid-afternoon, around school arrival and dismissal times. Be alert as you back out of a driveway, or drive through a neighborhood, school zone or bus stop.
Your child should arrive at the bus stop at least 10 minutes before the bus is scheduled to arrive. Teach them to play it SAFE:
โ ๐tay five steps away from the curb.
โ ๐lways wait until the bus comes to a complete stop and the bus driver signals for you to board.
โ ๐
ace forward after finding a seat on the bus.
โ ๐xit the bus after it stops and look left-right-left for cars before crossing a street.
