Hey love!
A friendly PSA that Lash extensions, more specifically volume fans here are affected by products that are every day essentials. As much as we love our skin care and make up, let’s do our best to keep them away from lashes! Once the lashes are covered in any these product, it leaves behind a film, creates build up and makes a fan collapse which is a big no-no!
It’s extremely important to wash your lashes daily with a foaming cleanser that specifically for lashes. Getting to the base of the lashes right on the lash line and get everything nice and clean! It’s okay to cleanse your lashes repeatedly to get all of the makeup and debris off just don’t be aggressive. This is extremely important is you home-care regimen and is going to determine the retention (strength of the glue) of the extensions/set.

✨ Natural Lash Cycle 101 ✨

Ever wondered why your lashes shed and regrow? Let's dive into the specifics of your lash cycle!
On average you will lose 2-5 lashes per eye, everyday. Each eye on average has about 90-160 natural lashes distributed in rows. Each eyelash has its own growth cycle which typically 90-120 days at its peak phase.

1. Anagen Phase (Growth):
This is when your lashes are actively growing. Lasting about 30 days, new lashes emerge. Lash artists will typically call these “baby lashes”, we will NEVER lash these! Artist who lash in the another phase can several damage the follicle!

2. Catagen Phase (Transition):
A brief, two-week period where lashes stop growing and prepare for the next phase. It's like a pit stop for your lashes! This phase of the cycle is perfect to lash!

3. Telogen Phase (Rest):
The final phase lasts around 90-160 days. Lashes rest, and old ones might fall out, making room for new growth. Shedding is normal during this time. These are also perfect to lash as well.

Remember, each lash is on its own unique growth cycle, so don't be alarmed if you notice a few lashes saying goodbye—it's just nature doing its beautiful thing! 🌱

Hybrid sets really and truly do steal my heart each time! 😍❤️‍🔥✨

Why do I love hybrids so much do you ask?! Lol
Well not only are all sets tailored to each clients eye shape, lash density and their desire. They’re also just the perfect combination of both Classic and Volume fans!
Let’s take this lovely client as an example.
Her lashes were extremely hard to isolate 🥵. They were curly➰, overlapping 🤞and she had multiple layers with multiple lengths (naturally). After doing our consulting and collaborating, going over home care and creating a map best suited for her eyes. I have to say it came out stunning on her!

Why this map?
In the consultation she desperately wanted a natural hybrid set with a cat eye effect. As you can see her eyes have a slight downward turn with a slight hood. She had plenty of space between the brow bone and lashes to add length but again she wanted NATURAL and NOT length. Starting with a gradual transition from the inner corner 9-12mm. We hit our POE which is always off centered for a cat eye and for this set our POE is 13mm. We the jump to 11’s to taper and sn**ch up those lashes on the outer corner to compliment and sn**ch VS elongating the eye. No client and no lash line is ever the same. This is why it is imperative to have an initial consultation with your client! You’ll be able to set clear communication, collaboration and education. By setting realistic expectation and lash goals.

So far in my career as a lash artist I love the consistent challenge. Having to be creative, strategic with my placement and the instant gratification. It has been so rewarding and probably one of the most humbling careers I’ve had thus far.

A client came in for a 2 week fill, this was my first time working on her in the salon. You see how many lashes she has left. Retention was terrible so I started digging to see what could’ve happened. She stated she’s doing all the right things but somehow isn’t getting the desired retention. I told her not a problem and we would fix this.
Needless to say if you swipe to the next photo my girl was BLESSED! This wasn’t a full set, I recommended a new lash wash, a sealant for better retention and a 1 1/2 week refill to get her back to the fullness she wants.
As a stylist I know it can be difficult to when the humidity fluctuates and you glue doesn’t set properly. But ladies and gents take the time to take care of your clients, wash the lashes, prime then, dry between passes, tape back when it gets to be to much, texturize.
Loved this client and I’m glad that I could help her in the ways that she needed!
