We are still covered in snow! I see all the snow on roof slopes and ridges. Beautiful landscape, but a potential roof headache.

A way snow on your roof can be harmful is water damage, it’s usual paths on your roof are altered (especially on a flat roof system) causing water to stand, the constant freezing and thawing can make cracks and leaks more prominent, and on some roofs ice damming. If the buyer wants to continue with solar panels and has a 600 credit score or higher, they can simply have the loan transferred to them. If not, solar qualifies for an MCC1 loan which makes the cost of solar be assumable in the total cost of the home for the new buyer.

If the seller wishes to keep their solar, for a reasonable fee, the manufacturers will come and move your system to your new home and set up your solar panels. From there your loan will resume.

Does solar panel installation damage my roof?

Answer: No, but if there are any problems, the solar system has a 25 year warranty and that includes everything the system sets on or uses to function. If your roof was starting to leak or has any damage caused by the solar panels or mounting equipment the manufacturer would be responsible for all damages.

This is a home we restored in the Level Cross area of Randleman, damaged by a hailstorm with half inch golf ball sized hail.
