Looks like summer is finally here. The weather is starting to even out and stay warm. Mosquitos, wasps, ants, flies of all kinds and termites are going to becoming quite active over the next couple weeks. Get ahead of them by giving me a call, text, fb message or email soon. Ground wasps are very active right now. Before you walk through grass, make sure to look about to avoid stepping on an entrance so you don't get stung!

It's swarm season for ants and termites! I have already found multiple termite infestations this month.
Getting a termite inspection is important to make sure they are not infesting your house, making your home their food. Termites can cause thousands of dollars of damage to a home if not found and treated quickly. If that isn't bad enough, most home insurance policies dont cover termite treatmenr or repairs!
If you havent had an inspection in awhile, it might be time to get one scheduled.
With the soft winter, I predict that termites and ants will be producing larger swarms than normal and more frequently this spring.

Wcia 3 is going to be doing a news story about the mild winter we have had and how it will effect pest populations. I was asked to interview but was unable to because of time constraints. They are correct though, with the mild winter we just had. The ground never had a solid freeze for a long time. This means that this spring, there will be more ants, wasps, fleas, spiders and all types of flies, not to forget mosquitos.
Mice populations and activity have been almost rampant this winter, I would expect to see something similar with the insects and bugs.
Having a treatment done as the weather warms, but before it gets to 70 on average, would be a good measure against these increased populations.

Have been seeing a new to the area invasive species showing up. I am talking about the Tawny Crazy Ant or Raspberry Crazy Ant. I am seeing the start of colonies on a regular basis, while the offshoot we have here are smaller than the comman pavement ant (also known as sugar ants or pissants), they are even more prolific breeders and can easily get out of control due to their speed and breeding rate. If given enough time, they will quickly infest an entire lawn or even block as a single super colony.
If you see a bunch of very fast, small ants, it is better to get them taken care now than to wait. They are invasive and upset our current ecology and food chain, once a colony becomes established across multiple properties, it will take coordinated treatment on all infested properties to eradicate them and it will not take long for them establish a super colony covering large areas.

As things settle from the holiday season and the continued fallout from covid, things can be a bit hectic.
