This is a heartbreaking story, I’ve seen some pretty extreme infestations in my career and can see how the nonstop open sores could lead to health issues.
Fear not: Typically lice are simply an irritant with some discomfort, when handled quickly and efficiently they don’t tend to be anything more than a nuisance.

Lice infestation linked to girl’s death; parents charged GBI Special Agent Ryan Hilton testified that medical records show Kaitlyn Yozviak died from cardiac arrest with a secondary cause being severe anemia.

Great advice from A friends nursing school. There are so many websites with bad advice, I’m glad our nurses are hearing it right!

Lice do not discriminate! They don’t care how rich you are, how poor you are, how clean you are, how dirty you are, the color of you hair, the texture of your hair, your gender, your age... they are just trying to survive, if you have a warm body and a head they will try to make you their home!
If you get lice, the kindest thing you can do is tell the people you’ve been around so they can catch it early.

When dealing with this kind of anxiety, lice can be paralyzing and debilitating. That is just one reason why this company exists, to bring you peace back to your life.

Took a little trip to Disneyland and couldn’t help but notice all the little girls trying on tiaras and all the hair left on them! Avoid lice, inspect things before you try them on!

This school is handling it right! Checking all the kids in a class eliminates a problem so quickly!

Deep Thoughts by TKS: Today I was at my kids school watching the playground when I saw two little girls whispering secrets to each other. I’ve always discouraged secrets among my own children, but now I see another good reason not to share secrets. As they whispered and giggled I couldn’t help but notice how much their hair mingled and I thought “Ugh, secrets spread Lice!”
And ironically, keeping the fact that you have lice a secret... well that shares lice too! If you don’t tell your friends you have lice, they won’t know they have it until it’s a full infestation and by then, they just might give it back to you!

Tip: if you noticed your kids trying on their friends masks, wigs, hats, etc... you might want to check their hair tomorrow and again in 3 days. If you don’t know what you’re seeing, wipe it on a paper towel and send me a picture.

TIP: This is one of my favorite tools when traveling, be sure to lint roll seats if trains and planes before sitting down for a long ride. Remember those seats aren’t cleaned between travelers.

I’m thinking... lice anyone?

Just wanted to share with you, this is damage that lice shampoos can inflict on your child’s head. And I still pulled about 40-50 moving bugs during treatment.
Combing is the best treatment! That’s why every treatment on the market says: “then comb”!

Please do not ask a cosmetologist or barber to help get rid of your lice. It’s against the law for them to deal with it. And unethical if they’re willing.
Here’s a snippet of an article on it:

“Did you know that in most (but obviously not all) states it is illegal for a hairstylist to perform salon services on a patron who has head lice or nits? California is one of them (click that link, then Cosmetology Rules, then look for “0440-2-.12 COMMUNICABLE DISEASES” if you’re just dying to see it for yourself). That’s right, even if your stylist is halfway into your cut before he/she finds the critters, you’re soon to be politely escorted out of the salon.

Did you know... some schools in Santa Maria Bonita are enforcing a “No-Nit policy” this is a great thing for our community.

Now, I’d love to teach them the difference between a Nit and a casing and how to identify with the naked eye.
