HOW TO BECOME A TIGHT BAND: 4/1/61, The Beatles began a three-month residency at Hamburgโs Top Ten Club, playing 92-straight nights, performing 7 hours a night on weekdays and 8 hours a night on weekends. During that time, they lived in the attic above the club.
Dr. Thomas Seck
This is a local pediatrician sharing the challenge he faced in trying to help a child and what he learned. We all should take note NOW.
Well I'll be damned. They ๐ฅ๐ช๐ฅ announce it today (by declaring a "shelter-in-place" order to start in 72 hours).
CLARIFICATION: I made some edits in the wording to avoid confusion. I am NOT saying that anyone with a cough has COVID-19. If this post gives you that impression, then I apologize. My point is just that there is no way for ANYONE to know who currently has the virus in their body (NOT the illness, COVID-19, but the virus itself) so we should act accordingly to protect ourselves and our loved ones. If you see any wording that suggests something different, please message my and I'll work on it again.
UPDATE: It appears the severity of the lack of testing resources and the medical approach that has followed may be a localized phenomena (to the KC area). I was able to reach the head of the Public Health local response, and he assured me they ARE still trying to track it, but lack tests.
So, I'm editing my post until I get more information.
Two days ago, we had someone with cough, high fever and a parent that just came back from Korea, WITH SYMPTOMS. We don't have the right "viral media," so we can't run the test in the office, so we sent her out, WITH AN ORDER.
We couldn't even get HER tested, even though I contacted three drive-up places, two hospitals, the Health Department and an Infectious Disease specialist at a local hospital.
I was told that there was no point in outpatient testing anymore, that since the virus is so widespread that from now on the local medical powers-that-be are forced to take the same precautions with anyone that enters a medical facility with a cough as if they have active COVID-19. They recommended that we (as a medical facility) should do the same.
This next part will seem a little (a lot) crazy/panicky, but...:
IF what I was told by a health department official, two hospitals and an infectious disease specialist at another hospital is true:
Given that you can spread the virus for days (up to 12 days, since it take 2 days from exposure to become contagious) before getting symptoms, it would seem that we all should now act as if EVERYONE (including ourselves) is carrying the virus, but just isn't showing symptoms yet.
The 6 foot separation has truly become necessary, not just to protect ourselves but those around us. Please stay home when you can.
This would be a REALLY great time for some posts with people carrying around sticks to keep people 6 feet away, or something else equally goofy. I need a pick-me-up.
This hasn't been mentioned on the news yet, but I imagine it will be by tonight.

One of the greatest albums of all time was released on this day 47 years ago.
Today in history!
The Dark Side of the Moon received critical acclaim upon release, and has since been hailed by critics as one of the greatest albums of all time. The record reached number one on the US Billboard Top LPs & Tape chart (now known as the Billboard 200), and has charted for over 900 weeks in total. With estimated sales of over 45 million copies, it is Pink Floyd's best seller, and one of the best-selling albums worldwide. The record helped to propel Pink Floyd to international fame, bringing wealth and recognition to all four of its members. It has been remastered and re-released on several occasions, most recently for digital distribution.
