Thank you for removing these thugs from our streets.
A teenagerās Instagram account helped CCSO detectives connect him to multiple vehicle break-ins and thefts in Golden Gate Estates.
āI am grateful for the hard work and diligence of our detectives in making this arrest,ā Sheriff Kevin Rambosk said. āThey reviewed home security videos and thousands of records in order to identify and arrest one of the persons responsible for these crimes.ā
Ethan Hansen, 16, is charged with grand theft auto, vehicle burglary while armed, burglary of an unoccupied vehicle, grand theft of a firearm, and grand theft of a controlled substance.
On Nov. 15, deputies responded to multiple reports of vehicle burglaries near the 3000 block of 2nd Street Northwest and 6th Street Northwest in the Estates. Fi****ms were reported stolen from two of the vehicles.
The suspects were captured on home security videos reviewed by detectives. Detectives immediately recognized Hansen as one of the suspects in the videos.
Detectives were already familiar with Hansen after having viewed dozens of photos and videos of him on his Instagram. The videos and photos were part of 18,000 pages of records Instagram returned in response to a CCSO search warrant from a separate investigation into vehicle burglaries and thefts in the Estates in February. In some of the photos, Hansen is shown sitting in the driverās seat of one of the stolen vehicles, a black Kia SUV. The records included thousands of direct messages in which Hansen discussed the crimes with the other suspects on Instagram.
Probable cause was established for Hansenās arrest in connection with last weekās break-ins and he was taken into custody Monday. Detectives also charged him with the theft of the Kia.
Detectives said Hansen is a suspect in several other crimes that are actively being investigated, according to his arrest report

We are reminding everyone how to be safe around our local waterways.
Since August 30 CCSO detectives have conducted four death investigations involving bodies recovered from waterways. None of the deaths are suspicious and they are not related. Alcohol and/or drugs were contributing factors in three of the deaths.
Collier County has 150.2 miles of canals and 22 lakes, not including retention ponds or ponds within developments. While the water in canals and other bodies of water in Collier County may appear cool and enticing, especially on these hot Florida days, you should not swim in them. These waterways are host to many unseen dangers. These dangers include poisonous snakes, alligators, bacteria, hidden debris, unseen current flow, jagged rocks, and sudden water depth drops.
Most canals and lakes in Collier have a silt bottom, meaning it is a very fine material and once you step onto it you will sink down until you reach a harder surface, making it difficult to get out. Canals contain water that is fast moving. Fast-moving water in a narrow channel can knock a person off their feet. Even water that is only a foot deep, if it is moving fast enough, could cause you to lose your balance and be carried away.
Canals and lakes can have deep water. If you cannot swim or if you are hurt, falling into deep water could prove fatal. In addition to swift currents, irrigation canals may have undertows and turbulence that could drag even a strong swimmer under water.
Trash and dangerous debris such as metal, glass and even cars can be found in canals, which, unfortunately, are sometimes used as dumping grounds.
Vegetation growth is another danger. Aquatic vegetation can be seen on top of the water but not underneath. It is dangerous and easy to get yourself tangled up in this vegetation.
Agriculture runoff and bacteria can make the water quality unsafe. An open cut on your skin can expose you to potential life-threatening illnesses.
Your best option to stay safe is to stay out of these waterways.
Good Lord!
A 13-year-old Golden Gate Middle School student was charged today after detectives said he attacked a teacher in a classroom.
The child was charged with violating Florida State Statute 784.081-2c/Battery on Public or Private Education Employee, a felony; and F.S.S. 1006.145/Disruption of School Function, a misdemeanor.
Detectives said the student became disruptive in class when the teacher took a pair of scissors from him. The student had been using the scissors to sharpen a pencil. He started to cry. The teacher began to hand him a pass to leave class to visit a counselor. When she placed her hands on his desk to give him the note, the student tore the pass and stabbed her hand with a mechanical pencil.
The student then struck the teacher in the back of the head with a backpack as she requested assistance in removing him from the classroom. After requesting help, the teacher was able to usher the other students in the classroom to a safe space.
The teacher received superficial injuries to her hand and a contusion to the back of her head for which she sought medical treatment on her own.
The student was taken into custody.
