PNLX 7471 (EX-WM 7471) sits on the CSX/WMSR interchange track waiting for CSX to pick her up so she can head to her new leasers. 7471 still wears the Western Marylands Speed letter paint scheme she received upon the GCKs purchase of her(She was originally painted in speed letter as well). I don’t know how much longer this she’ll stay in this scheme.

Well far well 7471. It’s was an honor to have worked with and chased you! Today I learned that 7471 has been leased and is getting ready to be taken to its leaser by CSX. Here are some of my pictures I’ve gotten of 7471, each photo has a description. I certainly hope she stays in Speed letter and has a good life.
Two Western Maryland original. GCK 303 (ALCO FA2) EX-WM 303, sits in basically abandon near Barton, MD. Just a few days ago the unit was trucked out to it new owners somewhere in the southwest.
The bottom is a picture of GCK 25 (GP9) EX-WM 25 siting in the same spot it has been since the George’s Creek Railway ceased operations in 2019.

NS 269 passes the Brick Yard Crossing just outside Altoona, PA with a UP AC6000 trailing third. This is the first time since the retirement of the CSX AC6000s that I’ve seen one.

CSXT 8400 sits out front of the fuel stands in Cumberland, MD after coming in on M371. 8400 is one of two active EX-Western Maryland SD40 (7449) left on CSX. She has since been upgraded to an SD40-2. Four more EX-WM SD40s are currently stored in Cumberland, CSXT 8425 (EX-7474), GCK 7496 (EX-WM 7496), CSXT 8421 (EX-7470), & 8423 (EX-7472)

A visitor from a foreign land. CSX B815-09 departs Virginia Lane in Cumberland, MD with a rare Ferromex ES44 second on trial. Ferromex is a Mexican railroad so we don’t see them up here to often, I believe this wa stage first time since 2019 one has come through.

Since I didn’t get a post out yesterday I’m gonna go ahead and post it now. Here’s CSXT 911 a specially painted ES44 locomotive to honor First Responder. On the back of the radiator (second picture) is a tribute to those who lost their lives on 9/11.
CSX B729 with CSXT 4569 (SD70AC) in the lead and CSXT 7777 (Lucky 7s, C40-8W)/CSXT 235 (AC44CW) passes through Cumberland, MD this afternoon. The train did something unusual, it didn’t change crews in Cumberland, the train only picked up a Road Forman and continued east.
CSX S989-05 passes through downtown Cumberland, MD with EX-LN SD40-2 8006 on point. This was a special order train to move 4 of Amtraks Siemens Venture cars, supposedly they are heading to eastern PA.

When in Altoona, always check the back of the shops! NS 1065 *Savannah & Atlanta* sits by the turntable at Juanita, awaiting its turn into the shops.
9/4/22
As you can tell, night shots are not my specialty, but nevertheless I have pictures to prove I caught it. CSXT 4302 (GP39-2) in the lead of P029 at Mexico Farms. The Amtrak P42 died just outside of martinsburg so a CSX local dropped an engine to get them to Cumberland. 4302 was cut off in Cumberland and ALC-42 310 was fired up and push/pulled the train up the rest of the way to Chicago.

CSX B779 sits crew-less at Virginia Ave. in Cumberland, MD. Unit of interest on this train is CSXT 7929 *EX-LMS C40-8W*, this unit is built today Conrail Specs and is the last of its kind in active service on CSX today.
Each photo has a description.

One year ago today I photographed CSXT 173 *Spirit of West Virginia* for the last time. I would see the unit again on Sept. 5 of 2021 but wouldn’t photograph it as she was buried in the sea of locomotives at the Cumberland shops. CSXT 173 was formerly number CSXT 1 but was changed to make room for one of the F40 on the OCS. CSXT 173 is now in Fort Worth, TX awaiting to be rebuilt as a CM44.
Each photo has a description.

Well the original plan for today didn’t work out, but at least it wasn’t a complete waste. CSX M369-29 passes through Hyndman, PA with four EX-UP SD60Ms DIT. My original plan was to try and catch M214 with an EMD trio and SD40-2 leader, but that must have arrived over night, as the SD70MAC that was in 214s consist was the Rear DPU on M369 this morning.
8/30/22
Was looking like the 90s again! CSX B774-27 with a YN2 Dash 8 Duo rounds Brackens Curve on their climb up Sand Patch Grade.
8/27/22
CSX G111-24 departs Cumberland Yard at Mexico farms with quite the consist. CSXT 4541 (SD70MAC) leads the train, with CSXT 7809 (C40-8W) & CSXT 409 (AC44CW) for power.
8/27/22
CSX E750-23 with CSXT 911 *Spirit of our First Responders* in the lead, passes through Keyser, WV.
8/24/22
It’s feeling like an SD50 type of night. CSXT 8582 (SD50-3, EX-B&O) sits out back of the Cumberland shops after being temporarily pulled from the deadlines.
2/4/22
One from the archives: Two CN units work the yard in Cumberland. CN 2519 (C44-9WL) & CN 8836 (SD70M-2) back a cut of cars into the yard track they are supposed to be parked in. It was certainly interesting to see two foreign power units working the yard.
4/3/21
CSX M370-13 sits stopped at Franklin St. in Cumberland, MD. They had been stop since before 4 in the morning because of a derailment at Viaduct Jct., crew got off sometime before sunrise.
8/15/22
It’s not everyday day that an SP Tunnel Motor is in town! LTEX 9391 *former SP 9391* an SD45T-2 trailed DIT on M370-17 today. The train stopped at “the bud board” allowing me to get these shots.
Please check them out, this is probably one of the rarer things I’ll catch and post on here.
8/19/22
Well here it is! Here’s my shots of CSX P001-15 heading out the mountain sub. Please check out each photo, they all have descriptions.
Sometimes I get lucky. Today I happened to drive down by the CSX shops in Cumberland and CN 3934 *EX-Citirail ES44AC* was siting out front! This unit came in on B816.
8/14/22
CSXT 8247 “YN2 SD40-2” sits ho**er up to CSXT 4710 out front of the Cumberland locomotive shops.
8/13/22
CSXT 911 *Spirit of our First Responders* sits in the narrows less than an hour after sun rise on the headend of I016-20. I got to have a nice conversation with the engineer, get the rest of my close ups then left.
1/21/22
Chase up the former WM Thomas Sub after a snow! CSX T050 with four GEVOs (2x0x2) take the train from Keyser, WV to Bayard, WV. The train would continue to the Mt. Storm Power Plant but we only chased them to Bayard. This was my first chase on the Thomas and I certainly hope it isn’t my last.
CSX G110-23 pulls into the ”saftey stop” in Cumberland, MD for a crew change with BNSF 8419 (SD70ACe) in the lead. BNSF 6075 *25th Anniversary unit* trailed second, this was the first BNSF 25th unit to come through the area.
