Iosco Substance Free Coalition
A collective response to preventing, treating & recovering from substance use disorders.
The second annual street dance was a success! It was a wonderful evening filled with dancing, good food, lots of smiles, raffles, and popcorn. This event would not have happened without the help of many different people. We would like to thank Jason cadorette with BPT entertainment for the great music, for the love of food-food truck for the amazing food, and northern nutrition for stepping in at the last minute with a great menu of drinks. We would also like to give a shout out to Hope shore’s alliance for coming out and providing the kiddo’s with a great fun activity. Finally to the wonderful people of Tawas! This event would be nothing if you didn’t come out and support us. Thank you all so much for your support in a great night of family fun!
Don’t forget to join us tonight!
TWW embodies spiritual wellness by strengthening the Spirit of Service in our local community. We collaborate weekly with The Knights of Columbus to prepare for hosting the Monday Night Community Supper at The Collective.
Additionally, we organize Running for a Reason (R4R) events once a month, where our weekly Thursday 5K runs raise funds for various local charities. Last month, we supported Students Leading Students (SLS), an organization dedicated to developing leadership skills in high school students through active roles in their schools and communities. SLS promotes peer mentorship and healthy lifestyle choices, empowering students to lead effectively and foster positive changes.
To see how much we raised, click/copy the link below. Stay tuned for details on our next R4R event!

Happy national pancake day!
Making pancakes while delivering prevention messages to 10th and 11th grade enrichment classes 😁😊
Tawas SLS partnered with Tawas NHS and hosted a Parents Night Out. We held a talent show, musical chairs, face painting and watch a movie while eating pizza. All while simultaneously discussing the pressures of peer pressure and the harms associated with va**ng. I'd say it was successful enough to do it again 😉
Happy perchville from Tawas SLS

Worried about over the holidays? Now's a great time to set an example for the kids who are looking up to you! You can be a healthy role model by being proactive. Make a plan for when things are uncomfortable, know your triggers and what keeps you grounded, find healthy ways to de-stress and relax. And remember, how you handle your stress this season is teaching the younger ones how they should do it. Need support? Check out UpNorthPrevention.org to find help near you!
CHS is still in search of new space to call home in Tawas! We would need a confidential space to provide counseling, and possibly a room to conduct groups with 10-12 people. Contact Kara Steinke at 989-590-3435 if you have any leads, or email at [email protected].
