Luzerne County is a great place to live. Let's work together to make it a great place to stay! Elect

Two years ago today we were celebrating one of the most historic victories ever for the Republican Party of Luzerne County. Our team captured every single county-wide race, including the DA’s office, both open County Judge seats, ALL FIVE County Council seats, and the Controller’s office. This year’s election is just as important as ever.

We need to elect good, strong leaders to County Council so that we can keep the positive momentum going. We cannot go back to the old way of doing things, and when the specter of outside, dirty, political money is involved, we have both an obligation and duty to call it out. I implore you to do some objective research on all the candidates out there, because there are some really good ones who actually understand the functions (and limitations) of County Government, and there are some really bad ones out there, who just want to use an elected platform to stoke their radical nationwide bloviations.

This Council has made vast improvements to Luzerne County in the two years that I have served. We saved the taxpayers $5 million when an outside manager wanted to raise taxes by almost 7%. We are poised to deliver a balanced, zero tax increase budget in 2024, with even more savings than anticipated, and our credit rating has improved dramatically due to the financial discipline that Home Rule governance has propagated. We are also working with the County Manager and Administration to streamline several departments, re-imagine our building needs, and give the employees (both union and non-union) more competitive salaries.

Our committees have been more productive than ever, with the Real Estate Committee, chaired by Councilwoman Lee Ann Mcdermott, operating in overdrive to get county-owned properties back on the tax rolls. The ABC committee, which I am the Chair of, has appointed dozens of individuals to our Authorities, Boards and Commissions, even creating and re-activating several that have been dormant for several years. (Please apply if interested)

We additionally used federal COVID dollars to fund County road projects, bridge repairs, 911 service upgrades, building renovations, prison enhancements, levee improvements, sewer projects, etc etc that would all have otherwise fallen directly on the taxpayers of Luzerne County. The remaining COVID dollars have been allocated, in a list created by Councilman Matt Mitchell, to struggling municipalities, Fire/EMS/Police agencies, and non-profits that feed the hungry, house the homeless and clothe the naked. We considered those allocated funds a precious resource that needed to be doled out with the greatest of care. It truly says a lot about candidates who would put their names on such fabrications and filth to infer otherwise.

Finally, we prepared and passed a ballot measure that will, if accepted by the voters, create a Government Study Commission for the first time since Home Rule has been enacted in order to finally improve upon the imperfections we have discovered in our Charter. This has been a long, arduous task that was not without its stumbling blocks…but it was this Council that ultimately brought it to the forefront.

Those are just a few of the amazing accomplishments that we have made, and we no doubt will be on the road to further success, so long as we elect strong leaders who have a track record of working together, and not igniting chaos. Luzerne County is truly a great place to live, work and raise a family. If we continue to govern in a conservative, positive and visionary manner, we will continue to make it a great place to stay!

Our tour of the County Correctional Facility yesterday was a much needed learning experience. The people who work there do an amazing job with the resources available to them. I was particularly impressed with how candid the employees were about the issues they face on a daily basis.

As a first responder, I have to deal with many of the same people that filter through this facility, so I want to make sure that the employees have a better prison to do their job safely and effectively.

🇺🇸 🦃 Exactly 400 years ago this week, the Plymouth colonists celebrated a harvest feast with the Wampanoag tribe. This feast would eventually become the basis for one of the most American traditions ever, our celebrate of Thanksgiving.

I am thankful every day for family, friends, and the blessing that is life in the greatest country in the history of the world. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! 🦃 🇺🇸

🎃 It’s time for spooky things! 🎃

Spent some time this evening at the Pittston Township Trunk or Treat and Haunted House👻 organized by the Township and their emergency services 🚔 🚒 🚑. What an amazing turnout! My campaign managers, Elvis and Priscilla 🐶, had a great time greeting all the ghosts and goblins 🧟‍♀️ 🧟‍♂️ that attended. Elvis actually got so scared that he jumped out of the truck at one point.

The Largest Investment in Luzerne County History! Thankful for our local leaders who made this possible. Luzerne County is a great place to live, work, AND invest!

Largest Investment in Luzerne County History Announced Today;
Made Possible by Kaufer’s Local Resource Manufacturing Tax Credit

NEWPORT TOWNSHIP – Texas-based fuel company Nacero Inc. today announced it is making the single biggest economic investment in the history of Luzerne County by building its latest facility in Newport Township, a move made possible by a 2020 law introduced by state Rep. Aaron Kaufer (R-Luzerne), who participated in today’s news conference announcement.

“This truly is historic news for Luzerne County,” Kaufer said. “This investment is going to create thousands of construction jobs and hundreds of permanent jobs for local workers.”

The $6 billion investment will bring approximately 4,000 construction jobs to the area. The completed facility will employ approximately 450 workers.

The new manufacturing facility will produce tens of thousands of barrels per day of low- and zero-lifecycle carbon footprint gasoline made from natural gas and renewable natural gas. The facility’s competitively priced, zero-sulfur gasoline will be more environmentally friendly and will be useable in cars and trucks without requiring any modifications.

“This news is good for our economy and our environment,” Kaufer said. “We can have good-paying jobs and a cleaner environment at the same time with this investment.”

This historic investment is made possible in large part due to a new state law introduced by Kaufer. His House Bill 732 was approved by the state House and Senate in 2020 and signed into law by the governor as Act 66 of 2020.

Kaufer’s law established the Local Resources Manufacturing Tax Credit to spur the kind of investments like the one announced today. The program provides a tax credit of 47 cents per unit of dry natural gas purchased by an eligible company and the total amount of tax credits to be provided to all applicants is capped at a little more than $26.6 million. The tax credit program is applicable to dry natural gas bought beginning Jan. 1, 2024.

Nacero plans to begin work on the new facility in 2022-23. The project is estimated to be completed sometime in 2026-27.

More information about Kaufer is available at www.RepKaufer.com and on Facebook at www.Facebook.com/RepKaufer.

While I was in Hanover Twp. I stopped at the Parkway Diner to see if Brenda and Eddy were still going steady (and to ask them if they would be poll workers for me on Tuesday). Unfortunately they weren’t around, but you could help me out too! If you’re interested in working a poll for me, please reach out. Any amount of time in any area helps!

🇮🇹 Happy Columbus Day! 🇮🇹

Today I visited all THREE monuments that commemorate Christopher Columbus here in Luzerne County. Please take a moment to watch my video 📹 in which I discuss the importance of celebrating and preserving our local history for what it is, and not what we want it to be. We should all be proud as Americans to celebrate the bravery and tenacity of the Great Explorer and his journey ⛵️to the New World. 🇺🇸

I’d love to come to your town and talk about some of its local pieces of history! Let me know where to visit next. 🛤

Spent some time this morning at the return of Paint Pittston Pink 🎀 while working a shift on the ambulance 🚑. Ran into a few friends along the way too! is an amazing event that happens every year and raises literally hundreds of thousands of dollars 💸 💸 to help fight cancer 🎗. This year they set a new record of around $130,000 raised by the participants of the “Gentlemen’s Dash,” 👠 which included many countywide faces such as Councilman Matt Vough, Pat Kernan from the Times Leader and Chris Bohinski from PA Live! There are the types of events that make me proud to live in such a wonderful place like Luzerne County!

If there is a great event in your neck of the woods, please let me know and I would love to attend!

Paradox? Study says area is cheap to live in but not attracting young | Times Leader 21/09/2021

🗞 An interesting article that asks the question all local leaders have been pondering: why aren’t young people moving into this area? 🧳 What are your thoughts? What can the local governments 🏛 do to entice people to move here and stay here? And, if you’re someone that has left the area, 🛫 can you tell me why, and what you think the County would benefit from? Making Luzerne County a ✨ great ✨place to stay requires us to think out of the box. I’m open to all ideas! 💡
