Before engaging in a live-fire exercise, a contingent of 1st Squadron, 221st Cavalry Soldiers of the Nevada National Guard, along with Australia, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Fiji here for , participated in joint operations and conducted squad maneuvers. Their primary objective was to refine “shoot, move, and communicate skills.” They used a sand table as a rehearsal platform to enhance their tactical understanding and coordination as part of their training.

Former U.S. Army Capt. Larry L. Taylor was presented the Medal of Honor on Sept. 5, 2023 by President Joe Biden at The White House and inducted into the Hall of Heroes on Sept. 6, 2023 at Joint Base Myer - Henderson Hall. Taylor's name was also unveiled at the National Museum of the United States Army's Medal of Honor wall.
Taylor was awarded the Medal of Honor and inducted into the Hall of Heroes for his acts of gallantry and intrepidity above and beyond the call of duty while serving then- as 1st Lt. Taylor, a team leader assigned to Troop D (Air), 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry, 1st Infantry Division, near the hamlet of Ap Go Cong, Republic of Vietnam, June 18, 1968.

Keris Aman 2023 is a multinational United Nations Peacekeeping (UN PKO) exercise conducted in Malaysia and co-sponsored by U.S. Indo-Pacific Command and the Malaysian Armed Forces.
, which was scheduled to run August 13-26, 2023, is one of the largest annual international peacekeeping field training exercises in the world. The exercise consists of UN peacekeeping operations staff training, field training, and a critical enabler capability enhancement event, all of which will focus on UN and international peacekeeping and stability operations.
