It's all fun and games until things start changing and you did not choose the changes.
I lived my life in complacency because things were going great at my job and my life. I had great income and it was steady; I didn't feel like I needed to change anything. I fooled myself believing that things will stay the same forever - security of my job, my salary, my health, my energy level, my home situation, etc... It really would be nice if this was true! But nothing stays the same, things can drastically change tomorrow - things beyond our control. I realized the importance of having a plan, plan B, and having multiple sources of income. IF I lose my job, if I have to leave my job, fall ill, or a pandemic happens then I am not just reacting to everything, settling for less than what I want, and making decisions based on fear, necessity or powerlessness because I planned ahead. I am not going to be a casualty of my own failure to plan!
I did not have to quit my job but I did because I was not happy there anymore, my job just did not align with the person I wanted to be and the life I wanted to live. On top of that I am not going to let anyone tell me that I can only make a certain amount of money per hour, and that I'm supposed to retire at age 65! Work until you're old, get old at your 9 to 5 job... Now that is a really really scary thought!!! 🎃

Learn how to work smart and leverage your time instead of working hard and trading your time.
You can only work for someone else for so long, for so many hours each day... before you know it you're burned out and tired from doing the same thing year in and year out, yielding the same results, and without a real exit strategy.

Don't settle. Push. We grow mentally weak everyday that we are complacent or addicted to comfort. When we push ourselves towards growth, there is bound to be discomfort, even pain. It's also painful to be stuck, it's just easier to stay there in the pain that is already familiar.

My father taught me how to ride a bicycle when I was about 9 years old. He encouraged me to not be afraid. When the training wheels came off, counter steering brought bike riding to a whole new level for me. It was exhilirating! I would always be riding my bike around the neighborhood. There was just never enough time. I just wanted to be out there... wind in my hair... riding my bike. It was my happy place!
One day my dad brought me and my brother with him to work. His coworker rides a motorcycle and my dad had asked him if he would take me for a ride after work. So we went. Instead of having me sit behind him, he sat me in front on the gas tank with my hands on the handlebars. Man! Was that the most exciting thing ever???!!! Here is this machine that goes waaayyyyy faster than a bicycle!!! I was hooked! I wanted a motorcycle soooo badly!
Fast forward highschool graduation. My dad asks what I wanted as a graduation gift. OMG!!! 😱 Question of the year!!! You guessed it right! I asked for a motorcycle 😂 Few days later my dad rolls up in a Kawasaki Ninja. It had my name allover it! It was cobalt blue and white... probably less than 200cc lol. That was my first motorcycle! I rode that thing everywhere... my mom chasing me down the street because I refuse to wear a helmet. 😆
Now I ride a Ducati Supersport S. I wish my dad is still around to see it. He would have loved taking it for a ride. ❤️ Thank you, papa, for teaching me how to ride a bike, and to believe in myself. Kudos to all the dads out there who make their daughters feel empowered and special! 🙏
