👉Protein and plants at the holiday parties
👉Minimal sweet treats and alcoholic beverages
👉Sticking close to my bedtime
👉Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate
👉Moving my body with love, not punishment
👉Connecting with friends and family for a nice oxytocin boost

How to enjoy holiday parties with food sensitivies

Here are my top tips to help you navigate holiday parties and keep the GI upset to a minimum.

1. If it’s a potluck style party, bring a dish you can eat.

2. Check with the host/hostess and prep ahead of time if you can’t eat the meal.

3. When attending a large catered event, notify a server of your dietary restrictions prior to serving.

4. When all else fails, enjoy the ambiance, the people, a cocktail or two and grab takeout on the way home

Just a reminder that transformation is a process…

It’s not going to be perfect overnight.

I am not going to sit here and BS you that setting boundaries is a one and done event and that suddenly your life will be perfect again.

Hold strong and repeat after me “I can sit in the discomfort of change.”

While there are many similarities such as we both work on mindset, coping skills, and help you create specific goals, there are also many differences.

For instance a therapist is going to focus on more of your past and your mental and emotional health, whereas a wellness coach is holistic and big picture focused and goals are driven by YOU.

5 things that help me get through the holidays with minimal overwhelm and a lot more peace!

Ugh I used to struggle soooo badly with the overwhelming stress and obligations during the holiday season.

So I want you to know I GET it…

I am not sitting here telling you to do something difficult that I haven’t also struggled with. I understand how hard it is when you want to make gifts for everyone including the delivery drivers, bake for the neighborhood, create heartfelt cards and experiences for your kids, your loved ones and your friends.

The holidays are overwhelming for everyone and they take a lot of mental and physical energy that you don’t have available.

How are you feeling today?

If you’re in the US, it’s been a whirlwind of Thanksgiving and Black Friday and shopping and cyber shopping and about a thousand emails making you feel like you need to spend money you don’t have.

While some of you are eagerly waiting to sip hot mocha peppermint lattes and adorn your homes with tons of fancy decor, for others this season can be a real struggle.

Keep Going!

Put one foot in front of the other.
Get outside for some fresh air and sun on your face.
Drink a glass of water and sit down with a pen and a pad.

Write down exactly how you feel right now.

I just did it and mine was: in pain, uncomfortable, scattered, annoyed, over it, skeptical, hopeful, and ready for a nap.

What’s interesting is once you get it out of your system, it’s like you can get back up and carry on to the next small thing you need to do.

Be honest and clear with yourself.
Open hearted and compassionate.

And keep going. Don’t sit there and stuff your feelings.
Acknowledge them, name them and then you can open up to other warm feelings like gratitude.

In this wellness culture we’re trying to fit in a model of what everyone tells us it should be.

I’ll tell ya right now, it never works.

We have to look at trauma, chronic illnesses, neurodivergence, inclusivity etc. I also believe it doesn’t have to get all figured out.

Instead, try getting on a path to bring compassion to yourself.

Be yourself, see what works for you.

I want to perpetuate a culture of care and compassion in my coaching business.

It starts with self love and self compassion. Double tap if you need more of these ❤️

How many times have you heard or said,

"I've been eating so bad- I need to start working out."

"Ugh look at my (insert body part) I need to work out"

"I need to loose weight and start working out"

That energy feels like s**t 💯 and sounds like a chore.Of course you're not going to want to follow thru!

What if I told you it could be more like-
"I love enjoying my favorite foods- AND- a good sweat"
"I love how strong I feel when I workout consistently"
"I love myself enough to make the changes on my heart"

Because it can.

You can choose to workout from a place of self love.
Of wanting to FEEL amazing!
Of wanting to honor your body.

We get to choose how we view ourselves and our wellness journey.
And I promise you- you'll go so much farther when you come from a place of love for yourself.

It's about time we change our minds don't you agree?
