Brit's Custom Tanks
Providing maintenance on fish tanks and ponds, custom aquarium set ups, aquascaping, exotic animal care, and a million things in between.
When you see something that DEFINITELY shouldn’t be in an all male tank😅😅😅 This was a surprise to everyone, but when you purchase fish as juvenile or at a pre-matured age, you may end up with a blend of sexes by the time everyone grows up.
Looks like we have a bonded pair in the 125 at U of I😍 the staff and I are so excited to see how these babies color up! We’ve seen two so far, curious to see how many are actually growing in there👀
Four years with this tank, some old faces and some new, still all the love in the world for these mean boys😂🐟🫶🏼
Target feeding in a community tank has its challenges, but lucky for me, one of the OG boys knows how to navigate and get his treats😍
Absolutely love these stinkers and can’t wait to be back this coming week for our usual maintenance visit🙌🏼
I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful Turkey Day🦃
It’s worth turning the volume up one this one😂🤷🏻♀️
Always love seeing my boys in the 125, and the elders of the group will eat from my hands, but their aim isn’t as accurate as I feel like it could be☠️
I hope everyone has a safe and happy Halloween weekend👻🎃🤡
When you’re the only one in the building who understands why this is funny…..you might spend too much time with fish🤭🤷🏻♀️🤪
A little Pudgie boy action from the weekend.
Sometimes it’s hard to be him😂
Still processing having our own pond.
Spring 2023 is going to be the year of the koi🫶🏼
Cannot wait for the porch to be updated, the pergola build with Robert and ALL OF THE FLOWERS🙌🏼
The boys will be getting some new house mates in the next week, I think I'm more excited than they are though😂
Fingers crossed they get along and welcome their new friends with open fins🐟🐌🐟
We are SO thankful for the friends and family in our lives.
After dislocating my IP joint, Robert in the middle of remodeling the interior of the house, working, and taking care of the entire household while I was sick for 2+ weeks and being down to one hand, putting our own pond in was on the back burner for an indefinite amount of time.
Fast forward to my parents packing a shovel, driving 3+ hours to visit and work, and a coworker giving up his free time to come out and help as well.
What would have taken Robert 4-6 hours to knock out himself, took 2 hours to dig, backfill and get water and filtration in.
I FINALLY HAVE MY OWN POND😭🥰😭
We've got more landscaping and electrical work to do, but it isn't a wild dream anymore and I am SO thankful🙌
Good morning from a very special guest😍
This is incredibly common, luckily for this little noodle, I was here super early this morning to help him/her out🙈🐍👌
Off to visit the boys in the 125 and then start my regular day🙌
Quick video dump of the last few weeks🤷♀️☺️
From housing brand new baby bettas, to waterfalls and light feature installs, this Summer has been amazing!
Thank you all for your support and love, the flood of messages after my "retirement" post filled my heart with so much joy. Y'all are the reason this wild idea even took off, so THANK YOU for years of encouragement and support💛
Ignore the algae pleaseeeee, our snails need food and if they swarm algae tablets, he will murder them😬😳😅
He's so smart, and SO social😭
Training him has been one the most rewarding experiences for me in this hobby. We're adding stimulation with aquarium safe plastics and pvc, hiding treats and creating a playground for this little beast🐋🙌🐟
Rescaping I knocked out last week👌🥵🙌
They wanted more color and for the fish to really pop in the tank.
BLACK SUBSTRATE is where it is at for just that😍
Saltwater babies in the 150 get their own blend of frozen food as well😅🤭🤷♀️
We grow big beasts in this home. High protein, meaty foods(greens mixed in so they don't avoid it🙄) clams, human grade xl shrimp, crayfish from Mississippi, Rod's original and herbivore mix, mysis shrimp, cyclops, and mega marine frozen food.
SPOILED.
It's been a HOT minute since I've posted anything on the page😅
So here I am in all my glory, sweating like a piggy on a 90° day at 9 am🥵🥵🥵
Having to post this was something I would never thought I would have to do, but I will be pausing tank/pond services indefinitely after the summer.
With how aggressive inflation has hit this year; including the price of fuel, I can no longer provide maintenance without raising my service fees considerably. Unfortunately, I cannot knowingly raise my prices to where they need to be, while my clients are living through this as well.
With that being said, I will still be available until the end of the summer for service calls, and will absolutely be available for advice or help through messaging.
This was a wild dream, that took off so quickly. I am so thankful for the constant support, love, friendships, and memories that were made these last few years🖤🐟💛🐚
This boy and his food🤦♀️😅☠
He's obsessed with the crayfish we picked up on our trip down south. SO thankful he took to frozen food after being spoiled with live for so long.
Not nearly as graceful as his Saltwater cousin(our dogface puffer) but definitely makes up for it in personality😂
Had a blast working on these yesterday😍
On top of our normal maintenance; I added 2 chonky babies to the box pond, scrubbed the filter boxes on the 2 tier and did a water change on the 150🐟🌿🙌
If you know me, you know how long I've wanted my own pond🙃
Welllllll, it's finally happening! Our Butterfly Koi will have "his" permanent home soon🙌
Wildflowers are being planted next, along the Southern perimeter of the pond area and house🌸🌿🌼
Getting the pond in Whitehealth ready for the 2022 season, we've got ideas for the main waterfall and plants we want to try this round. I cannot wait to go back for those upgrades🙌
Made my monthly stop at the 29 gallon, where we did our usual maintenance and check up🐟
So excited for what this year has in store for us!
Quick trip to visit the boys in the 125🐟🙌🐟
SCRUBBED the circulation pumps and back wall where the filtration sits, did our usual 20% water change, and rearranged some of the rocks yesterday👌
Looking forward to watching the new babies grow, but also adding some yellow labs into the mix as soon as I can find some that won't be food for the big boys😅
If you know anyone breeding yellow labs, hit ya gir up! I'd rather support fellow hobbyists in the area if I can🖤
Hanging with these goobers again, and cannot get over how PRETTY this tank is😭🖤😭
2 days left with this visit, and I'm thinking I deep clean everything tomorrow as a thank you for keeping me as their #1 for tank sitting and feeding👌
Busy season is here y'all, and I could not be more excited to dive in🐠🧜♀️🐚
5 days with these cuties started yesterday, and it is just what the doctor ordered😉
Thankful I got there when I did, or I would have been swimming with the fishes😬🤦♀️😂
The RO unit was hand built and customized by my client, thankful he built it the way he did, or this would have been so much worse.
We'll be keeping the water in the tanks from this point forward, but I am SO excited to be back!
Back at it, and couldn't be more excited to be elbow deep in pond gunk again🙌🐟🤷♀️
I was asked by a gentlemen yesterday if I enjoyed what I was doing or if I got the crap job for the day. I laughed and said, "honestly, there are few things I find more relaxing than this. It's gross sometimes, but I love the fish and clients, so the good always outweighs the bad." He smiled and said how nice it was to see someone from the younger generation enjoying what they're doing.
I wouldn't have the opportunities I have had if it wasn't for the support in this community, so thank you all for chugging along with me as I continue on this wild path🖤
Any one else stay up after a 12 hour drive to separate and store crayfish caught the same day, until 2:30 in the morning😅🤷♀️🤦♀️
Pudge is hands down the most spoiled fish we've had at the mini zoo. This should keep him stocked on frozen food for about 2-3 months.......hopefully anyway. He's hitting major growth spurts, so we'll see🤞
Good morning from Honey Island Swamp😍
And before you ask, yeah. I absolutely did cry about seeing these babies up close in their natural habit😅🤷♀️😭
Our tour guide was amazing and if I could get away with bringing an alligator back, I would bring 10.
ALSO if I would have known the amount of hyacinth, red root floaters, and lily just hanging out around here I would have brought a trailer to bring it back for my pond people🙃
Best vacation ever.
When you can't help but mix business with pleasure; you end up sobbing over your favorite South American species, and going through the exhibits twice🤷♀️🐟🙌
Continued to be blown away by the opportunities life has thrown my way!
I'll be back in action this coming week, but boy this break has been so wonderful🖤
