Unfortunately I didn’t get as far as I wanted to before having to head out of town today …

But this beauty is slowly coming together and I cannot wait to see Michaela’s face when I give her this gift at her bridal shower next Sunday! 👰🏻‍♀️🎉

Progress Update ✨

I FINALLY got both cabinet boxes built, painted, levelled off and secured into place.

Let me tell you - that left wall was SUPER janky and caused me a lot of frustration, but I powered through and now I can officially say these cabinet boxes are done other than small cosmetic touch ups.

I was even able to get the electrical outlets secured and flush to the cabinet boxes thanks to my handy dandy electrical spacers, aka “electrical Legos.” 😂

The first cabinet box is in! 🎉

Now, don’t be fooled because I still have to tackle all of the below items to consider this cabinet complete:

• Paint (the box is currently only primed)
• Extend the electrical with electrical safe spacers so the plater cover fits flush to the cabinet
• Install 5” baseboard
• Build and install cabinet doors
• Build and install countertop
• Caulk and paint all seams against the walls and fireplace

There is still soooo much to do, but it’s finally all coming together!

The craziest part - is that we get to do this together twice since there’s a cabinet on either side of the fireplace. So hopefully you aren’t completely tired of me once this project is complete 😬😂

The custom mantel is in!

Getting those mitered edges to look perfect ended up being a lot more difficult than I thought it would be (thanks OCD 🥴), but it’s done and I’m so pleased with how it turned out!

There are still a million things to tackle for this project:

• Stain, seal and caulk mantel edges
• Build custom cabinets on either side of fireplace
• Build floating shelves
• Install baseboard on cabinets and fireplace surround
• Install moulding between shiplap and ceiling

Overnight Tile Job Complete ✨

My sweet little sis just bought a new home, so we had a girl’s night and re-tiled her fireplace to give it a fresh new look!

We still have to finish the following, but y’all - it’s going to look SO GOOD when it’s finished!

1️⃣ Grout the tile with MAPEI unsanded white grout

2️⃣ Create trim pieces around the outer edges of the wall that will be painted to match the wall colour - this will add dimension to the overall fireplace and more importantly, help hide those gaps that are visible due to those janky walls 😬

3️⃣ Clean up that fireplace surround to make it look nice and new!

WHAT A WEEK! I’m so grateful I got to spend the week with my best friend and her babies, who are my favourite little humans in the world. Oh, and her husband Mike - he’s pretty awesome too 😂😉

Thank you so much for following along on our journey of demoing her builder grade stairs and transforming them into this custom stained masterpiece.

I still have some cosmetic touch ups to tackle when I come back for my next visit, but those cuts turned out 👌🏻Plus, that stain match, well let’s just say the photo truly doesn’t do it justice 😍

I hope you learned something by following along and if not, hopefully you at least felt empowered and inspired since that’s my ultimate goal here for this page.

PUPPY STATION REVEAL 🎉🐾

This build has been quite the journey!

Together you and I have built custom shaker panels and even learned how to build and install under mount drawers!

There were a lot of firsts and I even learned what NOT to do when building drawers, but those are the moments I love sharing with you because we can laugh about it and learn together 😂💪🏻

Dining Room Reveal ✨

I can’t believe how much I built with my own two hands, with NO HELP, over the last eight weeks! 🥹

I pulled so much inspiration from the ever so talented for this room and can’t put into words how happy I am with the results!

From the storage banquette to the custom cushions, the room is still technically only about 80% complete…

With that being said, stay tuned as I build the custom corner cabinet, tile and add some corner shelves to really complete the space!

I finally got the lids completed (minus one due to a late spring snow here in Colorado) which still allows access to the storage space below!

I have all the pillows for this space (what you see is just a little teaser 😉) and the foam inserts from shipped today - so hopefully I’ll have a FINAL bench reveal for you later this week just in time for my birthday!

There is no way I will finish this whole room by the ORC deadline, but I will still finish it and as always, love sharing the entire process with you!

It is currently week 6 of the and I still can’t wrap my head around how much still needs to get done!

This last week I installed the wall trim moulding, found pillow covers and the cushion covers arrived!

🌻 It is officially week 5 of the and while I feel like I’ve accomplished so much, there is still an incredible amount of work to do!

The banquette is complete minus the bench top + the outlets on the end panels and let me tell you …. I AM IN LOVE!

Integrating this built-in banquette helped shift the dining table to the left which has opened up the room soooo much and just makes it feel so much more cosy AND inviting!

For week 5, here’s my list of things to tackle:

• Finish banquette bench top
• Install wall moulding trim
• Install seat cushions + pillows

Ok, I have to admit - this little guy was A LOT more challenging to build than I thought it would be! 🥴

But, it turned out perfectly imperfect - at least in my opinion!

During this bench build we tackled mitered/beveled cuts, learned to never use wood chisels 😂 and I even remembered to use the proper stain this time! 🙌🏻

DIY BENCH REVEAL 🎉🎉🎉

From the pre-stain mishap 😫to the intricate custom cuts of the korbels 🪚, this bench build has been full of challenges!

Challenges and mistakes are what help us grow, which is why I have learned so much from this build and I hope you have too!

I don’t love how the stain looks slightly uneven (due to that pre-stain issue) - so I’m still contemplating whether to leave it as is, or to just paint it black or brown?!
