I love to make time for a walk on the beach as often as possible. The rockier or deeper the sand, the better! It's a great benefit to the feet and ankles and improving balance.
Happy, responsive feet allow us to use our glutes and core muscles to support a supple and stable spine.
Along the way, there is the beauty of sights and sounds!
Enjoy some of the delights of my latest beach walk ~
The season of change~
In the Daoist wisdom tradition, late summer is the earth element.
Earth is Mother to all -
Mother Earth produces and gives nourishment.
The earth gives us a wealth of generosity, stability, and strength.
The fruits and vegetables are in ready ripeness for the harvest. The sun is beginning to lower in the sky. The seed heads are forming on the roses. Earth's bountiful basket fills with the ripened golden grains that will fill the storehouses for the winter cold.
A time for meaningful self-nourishment - A time for loving self-care A welcoming time for yoga -

Curiosity Is a Key to Well-Being Why asking more questions can change your life.

Sweet simple practice ~
Enjoy the power of appreciation.
Happiness Break: 5 Minutes of Gratitude Not sure how to start practicing gratitude? Psychologist Dacher Keltner guides you through a practice that can help you see the good things in your life that you might otherwise overlook.
The joy of change - Nothing changes if nothing changes.
Autumn offers a playful invitation for curiousity and awe in change.
Ripening, harvesting and abundance are some of the gems of Autumn.
Natures gifts us with its beauty.
This week my classes will explore looking at postures and practice from new perspectives.
One being the opening of the heart in back bends. The abundance of love within.
Another treasure in the teachings of Yoga -
Titiksha - Forebearance - 3rd Wealth
Strength of Character is essential to deal with all that comes at us.
Titisha; Having patientence, the ability to endure that which is not to your liking.
Keeping calm and presence of mind when when something doesn't meet our expections. (Mine is technology!)
To maintain a balance and be able to bear it when undesired situtions arise in life - that is a sign of having Titiksha.
The Squirrels are testing me yet again! This time they eat the cables to my internet connection at the same time the software in my computer is failing. Funny and not so funny ~
The morning walks give me the time and space to find patience and presences of mind.
And always time on the yoga mat makes the world right again ~
Contemplating atonement, brings me to compassion.
Compassion for ourselves is a powerful place to start.
Many years ago, I got to study compassion at CCARE at Stanford. It was an impressive experience.
Who know there is rigorous research through science making amazing inroads into Neuroscience effecting society and individuals?
My invitation for this week’s practice is the cultivation of compassion, it can have some powerful benefits.
Looking up symbols for kindness and compassion the ox / cow is used in mutliple cultures and tradtions. Just happens to be a favorite of mine.
Blessings ~
Going Inward , keeping in rhythm with the seasons.
Autumn brings us letting go of what is no longer of value.
Like the sound of sighing the autumn leaves falling to the ground. The ripening and rotting of fruits and vegatables, creating compost, reseeding the earth.
Autumn is a time of drawing inward as we let go of the old and contemplate what valuable essences we have within ourselves.
In classes through this beautiful season we will be chanting to allow us to find an inward turning of ease and transformation.

The Equinox has transitioned us into Autumn.
TCM speaks of this season being the Metal Element.
The colour of metal is white. White was often worn in sacred ceremonies and on festive occasions. It represents an absence or the empty space where having let go of our layers we can find our inner essence.

The beauty of Autumn around my hood makes for a precious meditative walk 🙏🏽
I have a great appreciation for learning and teaching anatomy and physiology in yoga therapy. It's like having a road map that gets you where you want to be.
Yoga gives us movement as medicine and the empowerment to keep ourselves healthy.
Twists, Childs pose, Cobra, Apansana to name a few allow us to improve digestion, regulate blood sugar by caring for the pancreas, liver and spleen.

Here is my one in the realm of Dahlia's ~
Here are the Dahlia's that inspired me. I yield to their beauty and I yield to these gardeners!
At S.F. Botanical Gardens there are the Dahlias in full bloom! In years past, this garden inspired me to plant some and they were demolished by the squirrels. Now I have tried planting the bulbs. After many months and lots of attention.
My first bloom and a special vistitor ~
Late breaking news in the garden!
Everyday presents change and wonder.
Fruition: An occasion when a plan or an idea begins to happen, exist, or be successful.
Today the Lunar calendar gives us the end of summer and the magical transistion into Fall! This is my favorite season!
These seeds just starting to show themselves are from a Peonies I finally grow. Time to nestle them into the Earth and begin a new cycle.
This week my practice and my classes will embrace this theme.
Seeding, rooting, nourishing the joy of change.
My practice today was a restorative one. Being with relaxation of summer, slowing down to balance the heat of summer. Drawing into the senses, taking in the aromas surrounding me. Gardenia's from the yard -
My garden has been a great source for meditation while the world spins faster.
It continuously teaches impermanents 🙏
