It’s that time of year again! WINTER TIME! With this weeks frigid weather coming, I’d like to remind everyone about the dangers of PORTABLE ELECTRIC SPACE HEATERS! There’s a lot of people that rely solely on space heaters to keep warm in these frigid temps! Please remember use them properly.
1. DO NOT use a surge suppressor strip with space heaters.
2. If you have to use an extension cord, use the larger wire size and shortest cord as possible.
3. If the heater trips the breaker, move the cord and plug into a kitchen counter outlet or washing machine outlet. Dont keep resetting the breaker.
4. Keep heaters away from combustable materials such as clothes and curtains!
5. Check out power cords on heaters for damage. Dont use a damaged heater.
Space heaters are one of the main causes of home fires.
6. Check the batteries in your smoke detectors or install new ones.
Please be aware of these fire hazards during these freezing temps.

PSA: Hurricane season is upon us (so far we've been lucky) but keep your eye on Invest 98 that is predicted to be in the Gulf by next week. If you're not prepared NOW is the time. Stock up on your essentials & make sure those generators are ready to go. Give us a call if you need any help with them.
