Thinking of joining ETIM North America? Here’s how John Richardson, Vice President of Sales for ANAMET Canada Inc., explains ANAMET’s decision to become a member:
“Being involved in ETIM North America is important to us for two reasons. We see the value in developing and refining product values and features that describe our products with like-minded companies so that our product classification is available in today’s digital age.” He also wisely points out that, “While ANAMET is not a large company, it is important that all companies, regardless of size, participate in an open standards process.”

Wondering how the ETIM classification model is “multi-lingual”? Simply put, with ETIM, you don't need to exchange the words, just the codes—as demonstrated by this graphic. From the manufacturer’s perspective, you classify your products using your local language versions; and when those codes are exchanged using the ETIM model, you can share your product information with all ETIM-supporting countries/regions, where the coded information is conveniently translated to their local language version and ready to use. This seemingly simple, but very sophisticated approach results in the reliable transmission of your critical product information across countless languages and platforms. If you’re not already involved in ETIM in your region, reach out today – and start taking advantage of this and many other intelligent features that ETIM has to offer! https://ow.ly/vseb50QXeRb

It’s been a busy and productive 3 days here at in Las Vegas. We’ve enjoyed connecting with so many of the electrical industry’s manufacturers, and of course manufacturer reps and agencies, in between critical planning meetings and at various hospitality events. Thank you to National Electrical Manufacturers Representatives Association and all the attendees for a great event and some constructive conversations!
We are thrilled with the growing interest level and usage of ETIM that we’ve seen in the U.S. (and North America at large) over the past couple of years, and some recent data confirms just how much!
>> The U.S. is now among the top 3 countries in terms of usage of ETIM’s online CMT (Classification Management Tool), which provides access to the international, multilingual ETIM model library (and facilitates all the “magic” as far as data organization and development of the model).
>> Over the past 6 months alone, usage of the CMT website in the U.S. has increased by a whopping 267%!
We take pride in and celebrate these numbers, as they reflect the increased adoption we’re seeing from so many companies and individuals actively using and helping to develop the model in our region, which is clearly vital to these industries on a global scale.
A huge CONGRATS + THANK YOU to everyone in the U.S. and North America who has been contributing to this influx in support and use of the ETIM model—great things ahead for our region and our global community as well!

We were lucky to have Clive Billiald, CEO of buildingSMART International, join us at in Mallorca earlier this month. Even better, he presented to our entire assembly on bsDD (buildingSMART Data Dictionaries), and in particular how they have been partnering with and incorporating ETIM data (or technically, the whole ETIM model), “very successfully” since 2017! As Clive noted, not only is buildingSMART’s vision for “a seamless exchange of data across the built environment” in complete alignment with the ETIM model, but they recognize and appreciate ETIM as one of a few “great” standards that is already well established and actively helping construction industry-related companies in this regard (and which he sees as a solid solution to a common “blocking point” in the industry, where too many companies are trying to do their own proprietary and one-off thing, typically at great cost, and perhaps not as successfully as they would like).
This is another brilliant example of the value that ETIM brings to our industry/ies, how ETIM partners with other exceptional industry solutions and providers, and how these partnerships bring real benefits to so many layers of the commerce landscape. Thank you, Clive and buildingSMART, for contributing to such a great event!

Manufacturer Reps are another critical group within the Electrical industry ecosystem, and therefore essential to the development and application of the model. recognizes this, as another of our valued members. Here’s what TTS president Matt Scarborough had to say about joining ETIM North America:
“Our goal is to help manufacturer reps do business seamlessly on behalf of their manufacturers. We want to take friction out of the administrative process of selling electrical material to, and through, the channel. As manufacturers adopt the ETIM standards TTS will be able to integrate the information into our platform, helping get the right information to the right people easily. It will also help with manufacturer digital transformation initiatives, product searches and more. NEMRA has been involved with ETIM North America since its inception and TTS, as a service provider to NEMRA, wants to be aligned with the needs of its customers.”
