I think I'm learning more about my injuries from every professional! Best overall view came from the wonderful Siiri Berg during our first PT session today since she's looking at me overall, not just focused on the hip break. I knew there was some rib involvement as well as vertebrae. I thought 2 ribs but it's actually 5 ribs with 2 breaks each. And L1-L4 each were impacted.
Really astonishing that I feel very little of this! I guess my body was in good shape and everything else is doing its best to support the fractures. I even got 76 sleep score last night. I'm off prescription pain killers, just 2 aspirin a day. I think the Kloud PEMF/PEMA gets a lot of credit for supporting all the surrounding tissue too.
I'll stick with the walker a while longer so I font stress ribs and vertebrae in any asymmetrical way. But I do have a saddle stand sitting in the living room so I can start working on my riding position.

Cheddar likes me when I'm injured! I don't move nearly as much. Apparently the schedule is he gets me during the day and Bandit at night.

Oh my! Who thinks they want to pry this bad boy out of my hands? It's a piccolo Buttera with a higher Iberian cantle. Alligator accents and studs on the cantle and silver conchos. It's super cushy. Some people think the Iberian cantle makes the saddle feel smaller but it feels great to me (5'2", 125 #) and it also allows the panels to be a bit shorter so this could be great for a shorter backed horse. OMG this is painful to post! I ordered this new model, the Bolzano because I needed to know how the thigh/knee blocks felt before stocking it, and while I did order it to all my favorite specifications (piccolo/17" seat, higher cantle, Soft Elegante which means padded seat/flaps but no stitching, extra piping and dees) I intended to make it available for purchase.
When I got it, I had to sit in it - and it was heavenly! Fit me like a glove. I did a short ride and was truly in love. But I finally have 2 saddles (my Torino Soft Elegantes which I still love) that work for all 5 of our horses. So I just can't justify keeping it and having to buy all new accessories. Oh, but I want it!
So I'm hoping someone else will love this saddle as much as me and I expect to be ordering more! Perfect saddle with a hidden pommel for the dressage ring, but oh so comfortable for hours in the saddle doing absolutely any activity.

My new favorite is a riding/running shoe. The Endurance High Sneaker, available with either Vibram or Revexs sole, has a gaiter which makes them perfect for running around ridecamp dust and weeds without anything getting inside. I used them for Ride & Tie last summer as well.
I rarely stock shoes because there are just too many options for color and materials even before considering size (and width) but since we just had an endurance convention I wanted to have some to show.
So I have a pair of black micronappa, size 39 and a pair of brown micronappa, size 40 remaining. The laces are faux, these are true pull on and off. I don't think I'll ever need another shoe! I even wore them out on the town in Italy.

I did a little test of the Flexx saddle last weekend! 100 miles, 11000 feet of elevation ascent, 23 hours on my boy Alamo. He was strong all day and finished with a perfect back (same next morning). I used a Vella (synthetic wool) pad, temps were fairly warm but not miserable, humidity higher than I prefer but not bad. The only changes I made during the ride were to add balancing shims (I'd just started breaking in the base and hadn't done any downhills) and to change girths as the one I started with was a little thick for downhill trotting. The saddle was perfectly stable in all directions all day.
I was really happy with the whole setup and Alamo was too!
