Mixed motives. When you're praying for something that you really want and praying for grace to be content without it. Sigh.

What's on your bucket list? It seems for most people, they have a list of experiences they want to have and that constitutes their idea of success in life. For me, sure, I'd like to do some things. Lots of things. But if I'm conscious and alert when the end draws near, I want to look back and see that above all, I was useful. That I made the most of the opportunities God gave me, not to have a good time but to please Him by serving others in worthwhile ways. I'd like to be remembered as a man who laid down his life for God, family and others. I suspect on that day, that it won't matter much if I made lots of money (not much danger of that anyway) or whether I was better than somebody else at one activity or another. God help me to strive and yearn just to be truly useful.

As of today, we have lived in this house on Candler's Mountain for 42 years. Raised 14 kids here; now it's just us and Mosby the dog. So thankful all the kids and grandkids are still local! Thank you Lord, for a house that really feels like HOME.
