Obedience is joy
I’ve never met a dog owner who didn’t know how to love their dog. But I’ve met many who didn’t know how to lead their dog. I’m not suggesting dominance tactics and take downs🤣 but what I am saying is knowing how to lead your dog fixes every issue you might be having. I’m shocked by how often simple things like accidents in the house, puppy biting, leash pulling simply vanish as soon as an owner begins leading their dog. Everyone is happier!
Training offers your dog the gift of freedom
Hi I’m Alli! A professional dog trainer in the Northern Colorado area.
I grew up in Idaho and trained every animal the farm could dream up, from the red wing black bird that would land on my shoulder, to my horse Ranger who would play fetch with me.
But it was my childhood dog Daisy I loved most. With her I made my mistakes and to her I now credit my career.
Life has a way of coming full circle and now Daisy’s great granddaughter Remi and I train dogs and their owners in all things obedience. Sunny my border collie pup recently joined the team.
We believe that obedience is the gateway to relationship. And our goal is that on or off leash that relationship will be one you can depend on.
Here I want to give you a window into what our training looks like, to give helpful tips, to be here to answer your questions and to celebrate your progress along the way! I look forward to getting to know you more!
“Place” is a whole family affair
Happy Thanksgiving!!🍁 Praising God for His many good gifts
Not every day of training feels like progress but its the trajectory that counts. Keep at it and you'll be surprised where you will be 3 months from now.
Lil Sunny-shine is such a joy! I've slowed down this month of work just to spend time with her and do lots of focused training and boy is it paying off! She's never had an accident, never cried in her crate...such a sweet and smart pup! I'm really excited about how she is turning out and look forward to introducing her to many of you!
Things to ask or find out about a breeder when picking out a puppy
- what kind of environment is the pup kept in?
If the pup spends alot of time in an unclean place it can be extra difficult to potty train and the likelihood of illness and parasites is much higher
- what are the personalities of the parents like?
If the parents are high strung, not good with people, difficult to train you want to know. Some breeders don't consider the personality of the parents but only the looks. Personality matters!
-was the puppy handled by people? It makes a huge difference if your puppy has grown up being loved on by people
People often ask me whether to get a puppy or a grown dog.
Obviously it depends!
Puppies are so hilarious, cute and fun. But they have small bladders and usually lots of play drive which means they are higher maintenance. Things I watch out for
Older dogs can be much easier to potty train and obedience training goes alot faster typically.
My dog is crazy…but a happier one you’ll never meet😊
Training is a whole family project
Introducing the newest member of the Train Up A Dog team: Sunny. She’s a 9 week old Border Collie and we are having so much fun bonding and training. Remi and Sunny get along great. You’ll be seeing us around!
Sometimes Remi looks like a dwarf🤣
It never gets old
Watching owners and dogs go from frustration to partnership is the best part of my job

Training offers your dog the gift of freedom.
Remi is thrilled when she sees my running shoes. She knows what is required of her, does it well, and loves every minute of it. Because of training we can enjoy our favorite things together.
Give your dog the gift of freedom
Taking it offleash!
