💙🙏 Pro Tip - be aware of and maintain your water level (or waterline) in your pool 💙🙏

Many things can affect your pool water level, from heavy rain (raises it) and hot sun (evaporates it) - 2 of the biggest factors of Florida’s climate 😂☀️☔️

There is also the possibility of high spa useage (quicker evaporation due to higher heat), high useage (splashing, etc) and the unfortunate instances of pool leaks (we have you covered with help detecting the source of the leak in this instance too!!)

A change in water level can wildly affect the chemical balance of your pool and can cause potentially damage your pool’s mechanical systems. It’s one of the easiest things to keep on top of but is a major cause of a lot of pool problems!!

No matter the size or shape of your pool, the water level should be halfway up your skimmer plate (the rectangular opening that’s built into the side of your pool) - If it’s too low, it can suck air in, possibly damaging the pump…. if it’s too high it often makes the skimmer ‘ineffective’, leaving you with debris on the water surface.

Some clients have overflows to prevent it getting too high, others don’t!

Some clients have autofills, others don’t!

If your pool or spa smells of chlorine it is often NOT because there is too much chlorine in it……

Despite popular belief, a strong chlorine smell is often a sign that there may not be enough free chlorine in the pool!

The chlorine that you smell is usually caused by the formation of Chloramines - a chemical irritant that occurs when chlorine mixes with P*E, P**P, SWEAT and other chemicals from sun screens and skincare products!

This is why public swimming places often ask you to shower before swimming - so you are clean before you get in the water and potentially disrupt the chemical balance! And obviously no pee’ing in the pool 😂😂
