1st Race in the Books!
For those of you who donāt know, I ran my first obstacle race yesterday (with nearly no training prep) and had a blast! The course was 5.9 miles with 25 obstacles. I definitely wasnāt pushing for competition time but I did meet some awesome people along the way and we had a great adventure š
I placed 30th in my division (497th in the open), finishing the race at 2 hours and 17 minutes. I had an absolute blast!
This might be my first medal but it definitely wonāt be my last! Youāll see me again š„
P.s. the best part was being able to set an example for my girl and seeing her there at the finish line. Donāt worry - sheāll be doing the junior races before you know it š
Also LADIES!! Iāve already entered for the Palm Beach Mud Girl Run on May 18th. Come Join Me! (Motherās Day Sale of $40 entry through tomorrow š)

Over the years, I can admit that I have had my run-ins with body dysmorphia and lack of confidence - especially after having birthed a whole human!
That tends to hit the mind rather hard for most. I believe your mental health is super important and should be one of your main focuses when working on your fitness journey.
With that in mind, I started looking for ways to help ease my frantic and anxious brain.
One of the tools I use are progress pictures. Once every 2-3 weeks, usually on a gym day that I am feeling really good after my workout, I will take several pictures of my physique. šŖWhen I feel like all the work is for nothing and the progress feels slow, doing this gives me the opportunity to look back at the months I have already conquered.
You can also use these photos šø to determine if you are in line with your fitness goals too! When you have a SMART goal, you have specific measurable goals. If you notice that you are coming up on your time frame or measurement, and you are not where you want to be OR maybe you are past that goal, you can adjust accordingly to have more effective goals.
This allows the mental freedom to maintain fitness goals and feel more encouraged that the PROCESS DOES WORKS!
A lot of times, people forget that the process can be painfully slow. Everyone is built differently and social media can set an unrealistic standard that feeds into insecurity. Take this chance to be your own inspiration!
Please note: this may not work for you! Everyone has their own type of motivation/inspiration. What's important is finding a tool or method that works for you!
If you are struggling with mental health and need immediate assistance, please dial 988 or go to your nearest emergency room.

Word of the week: āØChangeāØ
Family holidays and vacations are filled with high energy, memories and chaos. Everything is out of wack and schedules are out of sync. š¤Æ
As we move into this new year and get a grip back on normalcy, take a moment to think about what you would want to āØchangeāØ this year and how it may affect your goals.
While setting up your routine in the new year, think about adding (or taking away) at least ONE activity or task that will help you move forward towards your goals.
Even if itās just reading for 30 minutes, twice a week š or drinking more waterš§!
The smallest āØchangeāØ in your habits can make the biggest impact. šÆ

Word of the Week: āØMotivationāØ
Everyone has a reason behind why they do something or why they create certain goals.
Why would someone start working out? Maybe it is to live healthier, or become stronger or maybe itās because working out helps them heal in some way. Itās the same with the reason behind why people seek higher education, start new habits, etc.
My motivation behind this business is to show my daughter what being physically, mentally and professionally strong looks like so that she has the confidence to go for her own dreams and goals when the time comes and not be intimidated by her anxieties and fears. I also have a big heart for helping others achieve their own aspirations and goals.
Everyone has the ability to achieve anything if they put their mind to it. It just starts with one step.
What motivates you? What goal are you waiting to start? What step can you take this week to get closer to achieving your goals?
My step was to start running again this week! (2.31 Miles at 32 minutes)

Throwback Thursday!
Yāall. When I tell you that āØpatience āØ is going to be one of my biggest strugglesā¦
This picture was back in the beginning of September. I felt as though this was the peak of my fitness right before I fell out. I felt so strong and I was progressing so well. I was so proud.
We are now 6 weeks postpartum and Lord please give me strength because I wish I could just go back to this point and keep going.
But, I know that even though Iām starting from the beginning again, my journey will be different this time around and I will reach newer and better goals!
I canāt wait to see the improvements and goals I accomplish going forward!
What are some of your goals that you want to achieve in the next 6 months?

Word of the Week: āØPatienceāØ
Sometimes in this fast-pace era, we forget that not everything comes at the snap of the fingers š«°š¼
Patience is so important when it comes to achieving your goals. āOne Day at a Timeā is something that is used a lot in our household when things are frustrating or stressful because it helps remind us that we need to remain patient for things to come to fruition.
If you work hard towards your goal, you will achieve what you aspire. The number on the scale or tape wonāt change after your first workout, you donāt master your coping skills after the first therapy session, and that degree doesnāt come after your first class! Take the time to work towards your goal and be patient in the days ahead.
Your time will come as long you have patience and never give up!
Letās humble ourselves a bitā¦what in your life could you have more patience with?

Happy Monday!
Word of the Week: āØGRACEāØ
This week marks 5 weeks postpartum for me and let me tell you - giving myself some grace has definitely been one of my biggest obstacles. Iāve constantly had to remind myself to take everything one day at a time, and you should too!
Whether you are just starting your fitness journey or restarting like I am, you HAVE to give yourself some grace. It doesnāt always come easy and mentally, it can be exhausting. Persistence and strength are important and it only works if you cut yourself some slack.
If it all seems overwhelming, start with 5-10 minutes of stretching/meditation a day, or maybe 3-5 exercises that you are comfortable with and build from there. You wonāt hit your goal right out of the gate, so donāt treat your mind and body like it should have.

āØWord of the Week: GRATEFUL āØ
Part of our rebrand and sabbatical was taking time to appreciate the world and people around us. We want to create a community here where people feel safe, seen, and heard and that starts with our supporters. We believe itās important to have people in your corner no matter where in your journey you are. Today, we celebrate one of JoyFitās biggest supporters - Mama Joy! Not only is it her birthday but without her, this business would just be a passing thought. Happy Birthday Melanie Fink

Hey All!
Due to unexpected family circumstances, all business has been halted until this summer. Thank you for all support and understanding! Canāt wait to get back in it and start again soon!
āØREFLECTIONāØ
These past few months in my sabbatical, I have learned what it means to reflect. Iām not talking just on your drive home, thinking about the different parts of your day, but as a human being.
Many of us have reflecting to do and it might just be that you donāt know how to. Maybe itās realizing that you need to heal from something, or that you have been too hard on yourself or not even hard enough.
You will never learn more about yourself until the day you stop and reflect. You stop, take the time to BREATHE and meet yourself.
Iāve been learning about myself through meditation. Iāve been practicing 10 minutes a day, just breathing and being with the sounds and nature around me. Either first thing in the morning or as the sun is setting at the end of the day. It has brought me so much closer in my healing journey and I encourage anyone to just give it a try, even if itās 2 minutes a day.
Meditation and reflection comes in all sorts of forms, not just breathing. It could be gardening, or writing or anything that may bring you peace. What is a way you can practice reflection and meditation in your own life?
Leave a comment, letās discuss it!
Welcome to the new journey for JoyFit!
This year will be jam-packed with all kinds of events, exciting news and new improvements!
I took some time these past few months to take a hard look at myself and my business. I decided that not only do I want to use this business platform to help improve myself, but I want to help others around the world too! I believe everyone should have the opportunity to love themselves and be a part of a community that is judgement-free and supportive.
Watch for content every week. You never know what you may see!!
There are great things on the horizon for JoyFit! Look out on Saturday for a peak into our ānewā journey š
What do your goals look like?
Happy New Year!
How are you helping yourself this year?
Stay tuned this week for some awesome JoyFit news!
Consistency is Progress!
These two photos are 7 months apart. 7 months of going to the gym, changing habits and being consistent. The girl on the left didnāt know what was coming for her and had no idea what she was doing. She had no job, no path in sight. The woman in the right has made huge progress, started her own business and got a full time job. Iām so proud of her and I know thereās only amazing things in store.
The first step is just showing up. Show up everyday even when you donāt want to. Even when it seems like the universe is against you. Show up anyway, prove to yourself that you are better than whatās been thrown at you.
Will you show up today?
Progress only happens one day at a time.
Someone had to remind me that Rome was not built in a day. Take pride in the progress you make, no matter how small.
What are you doing to progress?
