Heck yes ladies and that’s true for all of us✨✨
Happy Birthday to me-as this is my last month in my 50’s I thought I would share some of my thoughts throughout the month of turning 60.
First of all dang those years flew by. Especially 50-59 I don’t remember any other decade where 10 years felt closer to 5.
If you follow me you have already read that at 50 I have decided to live a bolder life to put my fears and my shyness behind me, embrace change, travel and make new friends and enjoy the aging process✨✨

So this happened to me today😳
I ran into a neighbor as I was walking my dog this morning and I said hi as I always do. And his response-I recognize the dog but I don’t believe we have met.
WTF we have chatted a million times over the years. What I realized was I was on my way to an event-full makeup, new glasses and not in sweats.
He only knew the casual Karen not the “dressed” Karen🙃🙃clearly I need to up
my casual game😂😂.
Has this ever happened to you?
When was the last time you did something for the first time?

And when I can connect and have fun like playing bocce-it’s a win win!
If you follow me you know my friendships mean everything to me. In my 10 years of living in my 50’s and a bolder life I have made so many new friends. I have learned so much from others. We have shared our stories, laughed and we have cried.
But mostly we appreciate the journey and what these years have taught us💕.

At 50+ I am Just Getting Started
If you follow me you know that I am living a bolder life at 50. Every week I am committed to trying something new-it can be a simple as a new hike or new local restaurant or broader and bolder like traveling alone to a new foreign destination. The reason I created 50 is just a number is to encourage women over 50 to embrace change, to live their best life, to not let fear stop you, and to remind you it's never too late.
What can you change to live a better life at 50+:
Cultivate a positive outlook on life. Focus on the opportunities and experiences that lie ahead, rather than dwelling on what you may have missed in the past. Define new goals and aspirations for yourself. These could be related to personal growth, career, hobbies, or relationships. Take care of your physical and mental well-being. Establish healthy habits, such as regular exercise, proper nutrition, and sufficient sleep. Consider traveling to new places. Experiencing different cultures, cuisines, and landscapes can be enriching and broaden your perspective on life. Strengthen existing relationships and build new connections. Surround yourself with positive and supportive people who encourage your personal growth.
Life is a continuous journey, and each stage brings new opportunities for growth and fulfillment. Embrace the present moment, and approach the future with enthusiasm and curiosity.
Hugs,
Karen
Celebrating Valentines Day as a Single Woman
Okay my truth is I really don't care about the fact that I am single on Valentines Day. Even when I was married it was never a big celebration in our household. We both considered it a Hallmark Holiday. Of course I would get flowers sent to me if my ex was out of town or a gift if he was home but we rarely went out to celebrate. We would cook dinner in instead and treat ourselves to a nice bottle of sparkling.
But! If you are single and feeling down while everyone else is wearing red and talking about their special day-create your own. You do not need a partner to do it.
Celebrate with your single friends by organizing a fun get-together. It could be a movie night, a potluck dinner, or a spa day at home.
Creative Outlet engage in a creative activity you enjoy, whether it's painting, writing, crafting, or playing music. Expressing yourself creatively can be a fulfilling and enjoyable way to spend the day. For me it would be dancing alone in the kitchen-Earth Wind and Fire blaring and cooking one of my favorite meals. And my dogs looking at me like I have lost it:)
Go shopping it doesn't have to be something pricey. Treat yourself to a sweet smelling lotion, new scarf, sale sweater, new pair of earrings whatever it is that will make you feel pampered.
Movie/TV night with your favorite reality show, film or better yet rent something new. Indulge yourself with that forbidden snack-chocolate, pizza, popcorn, abundant cheese tray and your favorite beverages.
Pamper yourself with a spa day, a massage, or a beauty treatment. Or stay at home and pamper you with a steam facial, long hot bath, foot treatment, lavish body oils and of course-chocolate.

I say stupid things but I am not stupid. Have you ever felt this way. You put your foot in your mouth and then it gets worse from there because you get more and more nervous and it just continues.
Yep that happened to me this weekend, made a complete arse of myself🤦♀️.
But! The benefit of being almost 60 is I was able it to let it go, let go of the embarrassment and used my bolder self to accept that we make mistakes move on⭐️
Have you been there?
Caribbean?
Hawaii?
Mexico?
I love all three but when my mother was alive we traveled to Hawaii as a family and all of the amazing memories and sentiment. And that is why it would be my favorite.
Do you have a favorite tropical location?
Friendship is the wine of life.

Of course I love this😉
Happy Thursday friends✨
Live your best life today and every day…little acts of joy lead to bigger acts💕
Happy Thursday✨

I am often asked when is the best time to visit Sonoma/Napa and my answer is any time of year!
Honestly our weather in Nor Cal is mild compared to other parts of the US-yes we have winter but our average low is 38 degrees and that’s in the morning with a day time average of 58.
Having said that my favorite time is:
March-May the weather is usually sunny and the crowds are mild.
June-August is usually hot and much more crowded, which can make it difficult to get into desired restaurants.
Sept-Oct is also a lovely time to visit. The leaves are changing and stunning the weather is awesome but it is harvest so it can be busy.
Hope this helps you pick a time to visit-and if you need help with your itinerary email me at [email protected]
