Sisters resident Paul Bennett is a musician as well as a supporter of Sisters Habitat. He wrote and performed a song in honor of Jimmy Carter. (As many of you know, President Carter and First Lady Roselyn Carter were advocates for Habitat for Humanity.)
A likeness of President Carter is in the foyer of the Sisters Habitat for Humanity Thrift Store. It is this likeness that Paul refers to in his song. Click on this link to see Paul's performance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCRGYrgppOU

Sisters Habitat for Humanity is immensely grateful for the support we received from the law firm of Martin & Richards PLCC and Edwards Jones employees.

Attorneys Gabrielle Richards and Christie Martin provided Sisters residents with an exceptional learning experience covering wills & trusts, estate planning, advanced directives, and how to avoid scams. The presentation of these complex topics was amazingly clear.

Edward Jones advisors and staff landscaped two of our new Village Meadows homes. We are so appreciative of the help from the Offices of Karen Kassy (Sisters), Hadi Sale (Terrebonne), Jessica Torres-Baltazar (Redmond), Kate Gaughan (Bend), Chris Meek (Lebanon), Megan Layne (Prineville), and Kenny Hadden (Bend). The results are stellar.

We so appreciate our partners helping Sisters Habitat serve our community.

With much regret, the Volunteer Appreciation BBQ scheduled for Wednesday October 11th will again need to be rescheduled. The weather forecast is calling for a 70 to 90% chance of rain, and temperatures are projected to be in the low 50's. Not exactly conducive conditions for an outdoor event. Stay turned for updates.

What is a will? Do I need a trust? What should I think about when I plan my estate? On October 18 at 6:30pm Attorney Christie Martin will present "Estate Planning 101". It's a chance to learn what is involved, and why planning is so important to ensure the right people receive your assets, to minimize the cost of estate settlement, and to make the process easier for your administrator. Free and open to everyone. Call Sisters Habitat at 541-549-1193 to reserve your seat.

Volunteer Appreciation Event Postponed: Due to the forecasts of continuing heat and heavy smoke, the Annual Volunteer Appreciation BBQ scheduled for the afternoon of Wednesday August 16 is postponed. We LOVE our Sisters Habitat Volunteers, and absolutely want to express our deep gratitude, but we want to do so on a day when we aren't jeopardizing health and safety. Watch the weekly Sisters Habitat Newsletter email for the announcement of the new date. In the meantime, don't breathe deeply and stay safe!
