Our RBT word/phrase is error correction. Error correction is a procedure used to increase correct responses through prompting and representation of the task at hand. It is important to remember that this has to be done in small increments and we recommend not doing it more than 3 times in a row. Please scroll to find a flow chart created by our BCBA Liz on how to use error correction. Remember to always get the learner's attention before presenting the SD.

Our RBT word is pairing. Pairing is the process of building or maintaining rapport with another person. When working with children, pairing is crucial as it establishes the foundation of your relationship with the learner. The best way to pair is by meeting the child at their level and interacting with them and the activities they prefer. Some examples on how our staff pair with the learners is by racing on the scooters, dancing/singing with the children, sitting the floor building with blocks, and drawing.

When it comes to study resources, using what is ready, available, and free is the best way to go. Our RBTs use youtube videos, flash cards, and our team (other RBTs or BCBAs) to increase their understanding of the terms. Here is one of our most recommended youtube channels: ABA Made Easy.

Today's study tip is to create or find free flash cards with the task list terminology. You can find free flash cards on quizlet (https://quizlet.com/134151947/rbt-exam-prep-flash-cards/) or, if you are like me, write the term and explanation with an example on index cards. Once familiar with the terminology, breaking down the questions and using process of elimination will be easier to do.

This month we begin RBT Wednesdays. We will share study tips, resources, and fun posts about our RBTs. Today's study tip is to create a study schedule. Although obvious, it is something that will set the foundation on how you can prepare for the exam. Creating your schedule to study allows for you to break down the RBT task list and take one or two concepts at a time. This will reduce feeling overwhelmed and will give you a guide when studying.
