Hi FB friends - I wanted to share some news -

It’s been quite a trying few months. I’ve spent a lot of time twiddling my thumbs in a hospital bed (nothing terrible, just a spine surgery that went sideways) - but one thing I have managed to do is write the third book in a cozy mystery series I’m working on. So, without further ado, I’m officially presenting (through the power of social media) The Humboldt Mysteries Series!

If you like a nice cup of tea and watching Murder She Wrote, then read on.

The books are set in the town of ‘Blue River’ where mysterious things happen far too often. Our heroine is Sadie Simpson, she runs a costume shop next to the local theater school. In book 1 (Shears of a Clown) Sadie’s sister is a suspect when mayoral candidate (and local busy-body) Cara Armstrong is found stabbed to death on the community garden compost heap.

The weapon used? A pair of w**d trimming shears…

I’ve had so much fun writing these stories, and they are definitely a love letter to my eight years living in Humboldt. The books are available through Amazon, though soon you can buy them in Humboldt at The Arcata Playhouse, where $5 of every purchase will go to the playhouse itself (in person sales only).

Oh, and if you are on Kindle Unlimited you can read the Humboldt Mysteries Series for free.

Book 1 and 2 are out now, and book 3 will release next week. The fourth and fifth installments are in the works for early 2024. (There’s a new casino being built and much skulduggery ensues…)

What a fun book! Louise Jane Watson's MAROONED takes some of my favorite romance tropes, sprinkles them with the vibe of my must-watch reality television show, then adds in snappy banter, character growth, sweet romance, and a sigh-worthy happily-ever-after to create a story that feels like it was written just for me. The book's tag line says, "A Hollywood actor, a nerdy artist, and the ship's cat are marooned on a deserted island...what could go wrong?"
