ONLE Hair

Bittersweet news. ONLE Hair is in the process of moving out of the salon. Just out of the salon. Not out of hair. It was a very hard decision, but one I feel good about. I am still taking appointments and doing hair! You can either come to me at my house. Or I can (bus dependent) come to you. The biggest thing I want to reiterate though is that I'm only moving out of the salon. I'm not leaving hair.

Did you know that I have a work number? That works regardless of if my phone is actually working or not. It's through google voice, so I think text is easier, but if I'm not online, you can leave a text or message and I'll get it as soon as I'm back online. Meaning, YES, you can book with me through text! Taking appointments for saturday/next week!

I'm at international salon and spa today volunteering my time for their back to school backpack drive and free haircuts! Come out if you need! It's 2-6!

Just your friendly reminder that I am open and taking appointments this week! Unless it's Friday. Friday is a personal day off for me as that is my birthday.

Okay. Let's talk. Is dying your hair damaging? Well.... That depends on the dye, is it permanent, is there ammonia? It's really actually not the fact your dying your hair that's damaging, what CAN be is the chemicals and ingredients. A good QUALITY semi, shoot, even some demi, permanent colors can actually be hydrating and help repair. Yes. Let me repeat that. A good, QUALITY, semi can be actually help your hair. Note, I said quality not professional, there are some good moisturizing ones available to the general public. Versus, a high lift, permanent color using a higher volume may end up being just as damaging as one round of bleach. Now, what about the diy hair dyes with like henna, turmeric, beet juice, gintian violet etc. NO. I'm not touching your hair without a strand test if i know you've done any at home diy dye job without actual dye. Henna doesn't lift and can sometimes react with bleach, including sometimes BURNING OFF the hair. Sometimes it's fine. We're not going to know until that strand test.... It's less likely to actually cause a chemical reaction with turmeric, beet juice, etc, it's still a crap shoot as to if it's actually going to lift or do some really funky things. Also. Same with Kool aid. Actually. I would argue Kool aid can be WORSE than splat. And. Splat is chemically basically fabric dye. So, yeah. I would recommend just. Spending the money on either going to a professional and expressing your concerns on damaging, or just ask and spend the money on a good semi color. I promise. Your hair. WILL ACTUALLY LIKE YOU BETTER.

Today's project was finally doing a prism type hair! And! I'm in love! I want to do more!

My first ever balayage on a human popped up on my personal timeline today. I remember preparing for it so much, practicing and practicing because I didn't want to mess it up. It didn't turn out perfect, but it was a good starting point, and is the oldest picture in my [finally getting put together] portfolio.

Should be into the salon soon for anyone who was wanting to come in today. Just waiting on the second bus. 😊

Now that I've been getting used to the swing of things, I am readjusting my hours slightly! Tuesday through Fridays I will be in from around 11/12 to last appointment around 5 unless I need to leave earlier/unless already discussed and pre-approved for a later time. I will be posting daily when I get in from here on out. And. Saturdays and Mondays are by appointment only! Hopefully this new adjustment makes it easier not just for me, but for you guys as well.

In an effort to make sure my focus is where I want it, all of my prices are going up. Now. That all said, ALL of my colors going forward include a haircut that day and TWO FREE trims going forward and a deep condition. Individual haircuts are going to be 40 for the wash, cut and blow dry, or 30 a month for up to 2 haircuts and the wash and blow dry!

Today's color project! Freehanded highlights to touch up from an existing highlighted base! I quoted and charged her for a balayage since I was freehanding. So. Yes. A good distinction between highlights and balayage is am I only freehanding? If the answer is yes, I'm charging for a balayage!

Will be in today through Friday, with a possible exception for a drive test, for walk-ins and appointments! Thursday and Friday are completely free for booking!

I'm taking appointments this week with full openings! I will be taking walk-ins too, however, I will be taking a day off this week to deal with DMV, and probably the same for next week too. So just be aware of that, but definitely will be posting the night before/morning of if I'll be taking walk-ins.

I'm in the salon until about 4 today! I'm taking walk-ins and appointments!

With the Renaissance Festival actually opening up (I know I can't believe it, my soul needs a good ol day and romp up there!)), it would be incredibly amiss and off brand for me to not offer styling packages for hair. I'm not sure what I want to offer. I know there's a lot of braids I can do the night before that would more than hold? Any ideas? Thoughts? Or maybe do a once a week inspired video?

Just a friendly reminder, I take both appointments and walk-ins and consultations are always free! I most likely will not be open for clients this saturday, as I'll probably be at opening weekend for the Renaissance Festival.

Something I will be implementing starting next week is a reward system for repeat clients. I'm thinking either a 5th appointment booked get a free deep condition and $5 off a service, or $25 off. Thoughts? (And as a note, anyone who booked with me on the floor as a student, and books again, is automatically noted as 3 services already booked. Just as a thank you for your continued support. :))

ONLE Hair is now open for booking! My open hours do not necessarily reflect when I'm actually in the salon, but rather, they're simply when I am available and open. As of right now the only days that I am not taking any bookings at all are friday June 25, July 12, and August 12-14.

If I wanted to potentially offer some classes on how to do some styling at home, thoughts? Would you want to see them in person, or would you want them to be in video format, maybe as a membership bundle? I'm just exploring and weighing out things I want to do and offer.
