It's Time to Overhaul the Arizona State Board of Dental Examiners

The Dental Board swears the dentist and complainant to an oath of perjury BUT their compliance officer indicated the Board is not interested in evidence of witness perjury -- it is taken up with the Ombudsman. WTF? The case was decided on perjured evidence their own records of the meetings of 9/2020 and 12/2020 verify. Are you feeling less safe about the folks our "Board" allows to be licensed?

Dr. Taylor on this board responded to a complainant who said "I've been here all day," "so have we." The difference is he was paid for it. She took PTO. This same board let my doctor walk away with $3600 in money I paid, not my insurance, for work his lawyer finally admitted two years later was not done. The board says the patient who complains IS NOT PART of the process. They give you 180 seconds to try to guess what the doctor's response was and they had ZERO interest in seeing the evidence that there were no refunds or credits issued for work admitted to as not performed.

There are so many of these stories over the last 4 or 5 years and as many in this group who are brave and insist on the state government that created this problem correctly oversee these boards. No story, no expose has made a difference. The Dental Board of Arizona's salary is funded from the license fees of the dentists but their charge is to protect the public. He deserves an academy award for his performance as yes the original complaint had nothing to d with him until we learned in February of 2019 the horror of what he had done because you don't want to see anything but his records not the ones that show he billed for work not done. You let him off the hook for collecting $1875 for a bar that his attorney admits is not in my mouth; $572 for a bone graft LifeNet says he didn't have the material for; $2400 or abutments the pricing indicates were $1200 saying oh, okay Dr. Randy it's all hunky dory. We're here because of a complaint filed BUT the complainant has zero rights here. Our salaries are paid by your license fees but we have zero conflict of interest. We're not gonig to stay quiet any longer when our boards fail us and I'm one of dozens of stories of people I've already talked to.

Each of us are one grain of sand who together to change bad regulatory process that alleges to protect the public. In my hearing Dr. Morrow said about another case with over 10 complaints that were filed as many I've talked to don't file as they have ZERO faith in the board to be uncorrupt "we can't suspend their license without giving them notice they have no income ... they're our colleagues." WHAT??? What about the patient that left the room sobbing due to her damage and the damage of others that your mission is to PROTECT. They deserve NO say ... excuse me they get a generous 180 seconds AFTER your mind is made up ... So now the Board has constructive knowledge of a liklihood of harm to the p***c and a chance that this doctor will harm someone else and chooses not to act with priority. There's a big hole in the sovereign immunity damn. If someone is hurt by the dentist they share responsibility for having constructive knowledge and electing to protect their friend and not the patient The tape will be posted so you can hear it for yourself. Who would be inclined to visit a doctor with this opinion after he rolls off that board? And for our friends, truth is an absolute defense to your anger that we are making the notes of a public open meeting .... public. They are once again wrist slapping someone with 3 prior actions of discipline, and judged his fate with the dentist's own forged records. In no other system of jurisprudence is the investigative body allowed to NOT consider both sides. My bonus? I get to spend a year or so undergoing painful surgeries and lose over $100K. This is a timely article. These boards are appointed and as citizens we should demand that they be recalled. Governor Ducey even tweeted in outrage that the dentists who run the dental board let a doctor who had no license to give anesthesia operate, but when he continued to advertise and WAS ARRESTED FOR FORGERY, they let him keep his license as HE IS NO DANGER TO THE COMMUNITY. Excuse me? When does he become a danger to the community. Then there's the tooth cleaner and her husband self-titled "supreme commander" who owned my dentist, the scanning company and those who could act in collusion to cost me between $50K and $100K. They claim to rigidly screen for the best dentists of AZ and CLAIM each is independently owned. These aren't the "best dentists," these are dentists with a minority interest of a corporation owned by tooth cleaner and supreme commander, incorporated or whatever name they invent. Take the trouble to go to the Arizona Corporate Commissions website, I did. Each one has the same two common majority owners.
