W.E. MOVE Raffle Tickets for 42' Roku Smart TV & Class Materials 05/11/2020

Our next raffle starts now! The goal is to take care of our teachers AND support our student's academic progress during this school year!

Your $10 donation will support students who cannot afford a private tutor fee of $20 an hour or more! W.E. MOVE! provides 2 hours of tutoring or academic coaching, Monday - Thursday, for our full time students. That's 8 hours a week to help a k-12th grader be successful!

W.E. MOVE! Tutoring Group supports both virtual and face to face students. However, we have found that our virtual students are in the greatest need for our service. Your donations give them the personal support of real humans who can connect with them daily.

You can also have friends text 'wemove' to 855-202-2100 to get this link!

Good luck!

Our Backstory.

So our backstory begins with me, one frustrated mom trying to replace the best tutor ever for her 8 year old son. I'm still not sure how I couldn't find 1 perfect tutor but, in my frustration, began Statesboro's first Summer tutoring camp with 14 tutors serving a total of 15 students and weekly field trips included; but with unexpected support from Dr. Archie Simpson, Dr. Beth Joyner, Attorney Minkah Merritt, Georgia Power, Bulloch Pediatrics, Adel Car Company and other individuals and local businesses --it happened!

The goal was to create a space for elementary school students to enjoy their summer, have new experiences and, ultimately, get the boost they needed to be prepared for the upcoming school year. I wanted to combat "summer loss", give those who were "on track" a boost and help those who were "behind" catch up as much as possible in the few weeks of summer vacation.

And you know what? We did. My son, who was in danger of being retained in the 3rd grade, made enough noticeable progress for both principals and teachers to agree that retention was no longer the best option for him. Parents and grandparents were pleased to the point of urging us to continue the service throughout the school year and that was how W.E. MOVE! Tutoring Camp & Summer Fun became W.E. MOVE! Tutoring Group.

The tutors at W.E. MOVE! TG are Georgia Southern students from various majors and the Collegiate 100 Men and Women chapters who have the patience and dedication to learn their student's likes, dislikes, struggles and strengths and then use creative, hands-on activities to help their student, in a one on one setting, achieve success in their area of academic challenge. Each tutor is constantly urged to be a problem solver and push the creative envelope as far as is necessary to solidify each concept. So, whether it's using pool noodles to create a multiplication machine or sidewalk chalk to create hopscotch for site words, they're encouraged to do just that!
