Do you ever send out a group e-mail requesting help only to be met with the sound of crickets chirping?
If you want help with a project, recognize who would be a good fit (and why) and ask them personally if they would take on the role. Be sure to tell them why you thought of them. They will feel validated for the strengths they offer and will begin to think about new possibilities for themselves because you believe in them.
To learn more great tips and reminders about being an effective leader, come to Heidi Schreiner's session on "How to Lead so They Want to Follow" at the Toastmasters District 35 Spring Convention in Marshfield, May 5 - 6.
