Day 100
The waiting is over, I finally got all the results from all the summer festivals I auditioned for.
I am thrilled to announce that this summer I will be attending both, The National and The Chautauqua Summer Music Festival, tuition-and-housing-free!
None of this would have been possible without the , who helped me afford transportation costs during winter break, and made it possible for me to get to campus and practice as much as possible. Without even mentioning all the educational opportunities the network offers like masterclasses, private lessons and mentoring sessions.
And of course, Dr. Christopher Graham, my private teacher at SUNY Purchase, who is probably not going to see this but anyway…I will let him know in person!
Thanks for taking this ride with me, the 100 days of practice challenge is officially over.

Saëta by Elliot Carter.
One of the eight pieces Carter wrote for four timpani, using a big array of extended techniques like playing on the center of the drum or using the wood part of the stick. Carter also used a lot of metric modulation, a big challenge for any instrumentalist.
Almost done with summer festival auditions.
Today, thanks to the , I got a private lesson with Kyle Zerna, Assistant Principal Percussion of the New York Philharmonic, at the Manhattan School of Music.
We went over rudimental drumming, french snare drum repertoire, xylophone excerpts and timpani playing. This definitely gets me on the right track towards my graduate studies journey.
Thank you for all that you do, NDCP.
Thank you Kyle for teaching me lots of stuff in just a couple hours.
