"WHY aren't you drinking?"
I used to freeze when someone would ask me. And my clients did too. I teach them 7 strategies to respond with ease and confidence, without lying or over-explaining.
Watch the video for one great tip you can use right away.
I'd love to send you the Google doc with all 7 strategies in Messenger. Comment below.
I used to start dreaming about wine at 4pm every day. After I developed my 5M Method of Cutting Cravings, I was able to not have that first glass of wine.
For many successful women making six figures a year or more, the first thing they want when they get off of a stressful zoom call with clients is a glass of wine.
In the next four minutes I'm going to teach you a single exercise that my clients tell me immediately cuts their craving for alcohol after something stressful happens at work.
And that simple yet effective exercise is just one of five I’ve created for them. I’ve listed them all on a Google document for my private clients so any time they come into a stressful situation while they're doing their work, they have five things that they can do immediately that are going to cut their cravings.
Now, I want to give YOU that Google doc. Why? I’m on a mission to help high-achieving women cut their craving for alcohol and not get fussed by tough calls. DM me or comment below and I’ll get you those 5 strategies in Messenger.
If you don’t know me, my name is Kay Allison. I haven’t needed a drink after a stressful work conversation since 1999. Today, I curate a community of high quality, highly ambitious and highly successful women who want to deal with their work stress without craving a drink. You won’t find these women in your local town groups. We understand and support each other.
Again, I’d love to share all 5 strategies for cutting your cravings for a drink. DM or comment below.
Many professional women earning 6-figures or more tell me they strategize how much they're going to limit their drinking at their next work event. Ironically, this leads them to... drink too much.
In the next few minutes, I'll share with you the ONE simple strategy that my clients tell me gives them 100% confidence that they won't embarrass themselves by having a few too many.
Want to see the other 4 simple yet effective strategies I teach my clients?

One of the most underrated tips to sobriety?
💧 WATER 💧
and here's why...
- Hydration: Alcohol dehydrates your body. When you stop drinking, replenishing your body's hydration levels is essential. Water helps restore and maintain your body's fluid balance, which is necessary for optimal functioning of various bodily systems.
- Detoxification: Water is so important in your body's natural detoxification processes. It helps flush out toxins and waste from your system, which your BODY desperately needs after long, sustained periods of drinking alcohol. Proper hydration supports the functioning of your kidneys, liver, and other organs involved in detoxification, which you need to flush out your system.
- Physical well-being: Sobriety transforms your physical health and drinking water helps kickstart these improvements - healthy skin, hair, better digestion, improved mood, the list goes on!
- Replacing unhealthy habits: Drinking water replaces the act of drinking. You're still drinking, but you're drinking something that nourishes you instead of poisoning you!
- Mental clarity and emotional stability: Staying hydrated is essential for brain function. Dehydration can lead to cognitive impairment, fatigue, and mood disturbances, which can make the recovery process more challenging. Drinking water helps maintain mental clarity, focus, and emotional stability, supporting your overall well-being as you rock your sobriety!
Drinking was costing me WAY more than I ever thought money 💸💸💸
And thats just not ony the $20 bottle of wine I would by every night (sometimes twice 😬 )
It was costing me income. Unearned income.
Because I wasn't performing at my best. Quite the opposite.
Instead of living up to my full potential, I was operating on stress hormones each day.
Which was less than ideal.
Once I ditched the booze, my income increased by 600% 📈
And that's what my program is all about:
Ditching the booze so that you can live your best life AKA up to your full potential.
And not just in the moments when you're feeling down, stressed, overwhelmed; but all the time!
Going alcohol-free was the most counterintuitive thing I ever decided to do to make myself feel better.
But the reality is...drinking regularly exacerbates exhaustion, exhaustion, stress worse
So what can you do for true self care?
New action:
- Take a 5 min walk
- Listen to a 5 min meditation
- Anything to get out of your head and into your body!
Get comfortable with being uncomfortable 🎶 🎵
I never thought I'd see the day I would be confident enough in my authentic self to enjoy the simple pleasures of life without staring at the bottom of a bottle.
But, I sat with my uncomfortable emotions and eventually it got easier.
Did it suck? Heck yes.
Was it worth it? Without a doubt.
When I was drinking, I felt powerless.
That’s because I wasn’t in control of my life…alcohol was.
When I decided I wanted to take back my power, I knew alcohol had to go.
And it was the best gift I could have ever given myself.
But change didn’t happen overnight. And it didn’t happen alone.
It was a complete evolution of myself.
So, if you’re asking yourself…is my future more compelling than my past?
Is what's ahead bigger and more meaningful than where I've been?

‘Creativity is intelligence having fun.’
And unfortunately, if you’re inhibiting your desire and ability to gain knowledge, creativity suffers.
Drinking alcohol messes with our brain, our body and our emotions. Everything that you need to build intelligence and empower creativity.
But, ditching drinking for good can be easier said than done.

I was doing all the healthy things by day… and undoing them at night.
If it was daylight, I was drinking green juice, doing yoga, and eating salads.
In the evening, though, I undid all those healthy things.
I’d tell myself a glass of wine wouldn’t hurt. But many nights it was all too easy to keep on pouring.
Out of control drinking led to out of control eating. And a lot of chaos.
It got to a point that living like that was unsustainable.
Other programs weren’t right for me as a professional woman. So I created one.
And I want to share it with you if you find yourself in the same place I was.

We look forward to seeing you!
Self care isn't always what you want to do.
Or what is going to make you feel better immediately in the moment.
I used to think drinking wine was my self care.
It alleviated my anxiety in the moment.
It was what I thought I deserved at the end of a long day.
But drinking isn't self care.
It wasn't what was best for me, even though that's how it felt in the moment.
The moment I decided to go alcohol-free was the best self care I could have given myself.
Certain genetics can predispose you to alcoholism, binge and habit-drinking.
🧬 Do you feel like you can't stop drinking once you start?
🧬 Why does it feel like everyone around you can hit the brakes but you just can't?
There is no one gene for alcoholism.
But there has been research done that points to certain genes that can make it more likely that you will struggle with drinking.
This further proves that the inability to feel like you cant control your drinking has more to do with biology than simple willpower.
It takes education, support and community to re-define your relationship with alcohol.

🌟 Remembering and Honoring Memorial Day 🇺🇸✨
Today, we pause to pay tribute to the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.
Today, we honor their courage, selflessness, and unwavering dedication.
Today, I'm reminded of the strength and resilience displayed by our fellow Americans every day.
They inspire us to face our own battles and overcome the challenges that life throws our way.
Wishing you all a safe and meaningful Memorial Day. Let's come together in remembrance and appreciation. 🙏❤️
Don’t give up drinking forever.
Run a science experiment on yourself.
What does being free from alcohol feel like?
I suggest giving yourself a 30 day break.
My hypothesis is that you’ll feel more clear and energized.
See if I’m wrong.
For practical yet counterintuitive tools to help you give your drinking a break, download a copy of my bestselling book, JUICY AF (Alcohol Free)
Cravings signify dopamine withdrawal.
Regular drinking leads to… an inability to enjoy pleasure.
But not drinking causes pain: cravings.
Giving your brain’s dopamine pathway a break (by not drinking) allows your pleasure to reset.
You’ll be able to take pleasure in the everyday moment.
The simple stuff.
Can you withstand the immediate discomfort to regain what’s important?
Let’s make Happy Hour AF!
(Alcohol Free)
That craving that arises around the time you used to pour a drink is normal.
Drinking rewires our brains’ habit pathways, deepening the hold that drinking has on us faster than you expect.
Experiencing a craving does NOT mean that you aren’t committed.
Or that you’re weak.
It means alcohol has rewired your brain.
And it takes a while to unwire it.
Instead of white knuckling it, substitute something new.
Make today’s Happy Hour AF by going for a brisk 15 minute walk instead.
Get outside (even if it’s raining/cold/hot whatever).
Walk purposefully.
At a fast-ish clip.
Notice what’s around you.
Return refreshed.
Craving gone.
Boom.
Our bodies are constantly working to maintain a consistent body temperature.
Whenever we’re exposed to cold, our brain receives a signal that we need to produce more heat and we start to shiver. Shivering effectively works to bring heat back into the body and maintain the correct temperature.
The same thing happens with alcohol—when you drink a lot, the body adjusts.
Because drinking relaxes and calms the body, the body starts to create the opposite—getting all keyed up (read: anxious)—until you have another drink (and there’s that spiral in the making).
Drinking more and more is required to ease the ratcheting up of anxiety we experience. Not drinking requires our bodies to adjust again and Fnd a NEW homeostasis.
It takes a while to make that adjustment. It will happen, but it’s not going to be instantaneous.
🤝 It's easier, faster and more fun to get free from booze together.

Don't just read about resetting your relationship with alcohol, do it. Be happier with yourself so that the first drink looks less appealing for more peace in your relationships and more success at work.
Every week we'll do one of the exercises in JUICY AF so you can recreate wine o'clock and calm the inner agitation that makes that first drink more alluring.
🗓 We meet via Zoom Mondays at 5pm EST/2pm PST, starting next Monday!
So, you're looking to fully commit to the AF life?
Now the question becomes: What can you do instead of reacting to your trigger with drinking?
That vacuum needs to be filled and the path of least resistance is going to be doing what you’ve always done. It’s a matter of being prepared.
This is where joyful substitution starts to come into play. Doing something pleasurable that makes you happy but ISN’T drinking is the key.
Can you hit the gym or get a massage instead of going out with your drinking buddy? Can you read a book or talk to an AF friend? What about just walking around the block a few times?
Twenty minutes can make all the difference between staying committed and giving in.
You may have to avoid seeing that friend you always went to happy hour with before, and you may have to drive a different way home so you don’t “accidentally” turn into the parking lot of your favorite beer garden.
Speaking of which, did you know you can set location-based reminders on your phone?
That way, whenever you’re in the vicinity of your favorite liquor store or the bar, your phone delivers a message to you from yourself saying, Hey, dumb s**t. Don’t do it. Works for me.
I also want to encourage you to lean on a sober buddy for support. There’s no way I could’ve gotten and stayed AF for as long and as happily as I have been by simply reading a book or taking a program.
Community matters most. That’s the antidote.
What are your drinking tiggers and how do you deal with them? My advice...
Do a mental health audit.
The best way is by making an appointment with a professional who can assess whether you have depression, trauma, anxiety disorder, bipolar, or anything else going on that could be one of the reasons you’re drinking so much.
When I Frst took this step, I was diagnosed with depression. I wasn’t surprised. It explained why I always felt like I was submerged under water and had to paddle really hard just to get the tip of my nose out for a quick breath.
Once my depression was being treated, it made a world of difference in my mood and ability to deal with life without drinking.
I didn’t have to “rise and grind” anymore because I woke up feeling energetic and positive naturally. All the energy I used to expend simply trying to catch a breath was now being funneled into having an incredible life.
Once I was freed up like that, my career took off like a rocket.
Later, I was also diagnosed as being bipolar, which explains why drinking had been so self-medicating for me. It numbed me, and numb isn’t up and it isn’t down.
Without drinking, my thoughts used to get spun up like a hamster on speed on a hamster wheel.
My mind raced. I’d wonder why everybody else couldn’t just hurry the f**k up.
Alcohol was the only thing that could shut my brain up for a minute.
Treating the bipolar symptoms stopped those racing thoughts in their tracks and sent that hamster packing.
Please don’t skip this part, no matter how tempting it might seem. It’s more likely than not that you will get a diagnosis, because the comorbidity of mental health problems and alcohol abuse is
staggering. In fact, the National Council on Drug Abuse reports that at least 50 percent of women with substance abuse issues have concurrent mental health issues.
Once you have clarity, go get therapy for that trauma, depression, anxiety, or whatever it is that has been hiding below the surface of your drinking.
If you’ve been unknowingly self-medicating with alcohol, your mental health issues are going to come roaring to the surface when you take away that self-medication.

Here’s the story of a hungover Mothers Day I’m in no hurry to repeat.
My older kids were little - maybe 8 and 2 - and they made me breakfast in bed.
They added one egg to the skillet.
It looked skimpy.
So a few minutes later, they added another.
Resulting in half the eggs being burned. And the other, raw.
I’d been out the night before, drinking and was feeling quite queasy.
Let’s just say it was certainly memorable. Not my finest hour.
Being a sober mom > being a mom who drinks
For me, drinking while being a parent just didn't work. And if you feel the same, I encourage you to reach out.
There is an entire AF community ready to support you! Visit the link in my bio for more info.
Mother's Day is just around the corner 💜
Give yourself the Mothers Day gift of being your ideal future self.
Overusing anything (social media, I’m looking at you!) blocks us from being our better selves, right now.
Who is your ideal future self?
What does she look like?
What does it feel like being in her skin?
How does she talk to herself?
How does she handle challenges in relationships?
What music does she listen to?
What’s her morning ritual?
How does whatever you’re overusing support that ideal self? Or doesn’t it?
Myth #2: Drinking is fun Myth: Drinking is fun.
Fact:
Depends on what constitutes fun for you.
When I drank, fun was:
•A bit reckless
•Saying mean things under the guise of “being funny”
•Not knowing what was going to happen
•Eating whatever I wanted •Included feeling like crap the next day
Today, fun is:
•Laughing
•Sweating outside (hiking, skiing, snorkeling)
•Playing games with friends
•No hangovers or regret.
What constitutes fun to you?
