Good Monday Morning Everyone!
I thought Iโ€™d share the morning I had with my Burmese Python.

It is 7:30AM and Katara has decided to push open her temporary enclosure door (need to get it fixed asap!). She spends the night roaming our reptile room and, in the process, she "gracefully" knocks over a giant piece of wood that then blocks the door.

So I spent my morning trying to remove a giant piece of wood from the OTHER SIDE of the door so I could enter the reptile room and put her away.

How was your morning?

We beg you not to throw your unwanted pets away. We can help!

PSA: If you can't keep your reptile, don't throw it away. We are here to take in unwanted reptiles anytime during our open hours, no questions asked!
These 7 animals were found in garbage bags, in a trashcan. Thankfully someone noticed them and called the police, who retrieved them and brought them to us.
The leopard geckos will need lots of TLC, as well as the albino kingsnake which has some mysterious fresh wounds on it. All animals were clearly overheated and lethargic upon arrival, but are perking up now after being cooled down to room temperature.
After quarantine, health checks, TLC, and some meds where needed, we hope to nurse them all back to health and get them ready for new homes ๐Ÿฅฐ

This is why education is so so important. People are so afraid of something they know nothing about. They are willing to kill or hurt a harmless creature simply because they donโ€™t understand.
A persons boa constrictor escaped in my neighborhood ( snakes in general are pretty sneaky at getting out of their enclosures ) and these are the responses.

Rax Update!

If you've followed us for any time at all you've seen us talk about Rax. Rax is a beautiful, tiny ball python that came to us as a rescue almost a year ago. He just went to the vet this past weekend for his 7th or 8th prolapse since he's been with us; and this one was big.

Unfortunately prolapsing is not only uncomfortable, as it's comparable to a hernia, but can also be deadly for Rax the more that anchoring tissue separates. Fortunately however, the vet thinks he looks healthy and happy otherwise, so he did not want to resort to any drastic measures at the time.

We now have an updated plan moving forward to feed him smaller amounts more often supplemented with higher-than-typical humidity so we can possibly stop the issue with new anchoring tissue as he grows larger.

Every animal deserves a happy and healthy life. If you would like to donate to the bills for both the veterinarian visit and/or animal hospital visit, we would really appreciate your financial support!

$1, $5, or $20- we can use it all!

Hello! I just wanted to share that we are offering fully CUSTOMIZABLE, REMOVABLE, and REUSABLE tank tags! We have a couple of new styles and we are now using a higher quality material that feels nicer and lasts longer. These particular clings on the left are based off of our own rescues and pets, and the one on the right is a custom in progress for someone in the community! If youโ€™re anything like me and cycle enclosures for various reasons and want to add a personal touch without leaving any residue; reach out. I will work with you to create a personal tank tag of your reptile!

Hello everyone!

I thought I would just share some of our lovable adoptable reptiles.
Please understand all of our adoptables have rehoming fees some are a little higher than others this is so we ensure the animal goes to a really great home.

Gabe the bearded dragon- Gabe is a very food motivated lizard. He loves all kinds of foods including his salads! He is definitely loves to roam but is also comfortable hanging out on your shoulder. Bearded dragons require a heat spot and a UVB ( this is NECESSARY ). Gabe will come with an enclosure and the light fixtures however he will eventually need an enclosure upgrade.

Zombie the created gecko- currently on hold

Brownie the Northern blue tongue skink- blue tongue skinks require a lot of space to move at minimum a 4x2x2 but I would recommend looking into a 6x2x2. She is a little huffy but when she/he comes out she is super sweet. She loves food including meal worms, blueberries and dubia roaches. I am a big advocate for spending time with your bluey they are able to form close bonds with their owner. I will be very picky about brownies new home, northerns can be expensive animals to start with but very rewarding pets.

Let's talk about the benefits of bioactive!

Well, having a deep enough substrate layer to support plant roots, as well as keeping plants watered helps maintain your humidity. That might be one of the biggest, well-known perks. But did you know that having live plants in your enclosure also improves your pet's air quality?

As the "cleanup crew", usually comprised of springtails and isopods (or roly polies as many people call then) breaks down waste, the plants use that to grow. And since waste is being broken down, this cuts down on odors that you might notice otherwise from your enclosure. You know the ones...๐Ÿ’ฉ

Bioactive enclosures are endless in their opportunities, no two are identical. This allows for more enrichment opportunities with climbing structures, plants and hides.

If you're looking to get a bioactive enclosure started, several of our vendors have plants, such as Functionally Feral. Stop by and check them out on June 23 when we have our next show!

Hello Everyone!

I just wanted to share an appreciation post for the team behind The REptile Project that some of you may have seen or met!

The REptile Project was created by me ( Raven Andrews) with the help of Ethan Badger (my fiance). Fun fact: the capitals R and E stand for Raven + Ethan. We originally wanted to focus on breeding ball pythons, however when we started getting messages about these gorgeous ball pythons that were no longer wanted we decided to change our focus from breeding to rescuing and education.

You will almost always meet me and Ethan at all of our events. Ethan is full time in school for biomedical engineering but still manages to find time to help me with our personal and rescue pets.

You also have probably seen my mom (Aubrey Jordan) at most of our events. She is also the manager of our website and the many posts you see. She is very creative and I honestly donโ€™t think Iโ€™d be able to do all of the things I do without her.

We also have many volunteers that have shown interest in joining us for events and encounters to help spread awareness and honestly just cuddle some of our favorite reptiles.

Let us know if you'd like to volunteer, we appreciate all of you!
