The Ukrainian team of Illinois wins in the uniform of the Ukrainian manufacturer SWIFT
In early December, the National Football Premier League (NFPL) regular season kicked off in the United
States, a tournament that aims to become the premier futsal competition in North America. Twelve
teams currently play in this championship, playing in three divisions: West, East and Southwest. In
particular, the Trident team plays in the Western Division, which is 95% Ukrainian. «Trident-Tryzub» has
already managed to play two away matches in the NFL - against the "Cadence" and "Columbus" and
scored two victories (7:1 and 5:2, respectively). And on January 21, «Trident-Tryzub», which is based in
Illinois, will play its first home game of the new season against Joy Athletic. The founder of the team,
Andrey Gavrylyshyn, spoke about the preparations for this match, as well as about the state of affairs in
Trident and the National Futsal Premier League itself in an exclusive interview with the 5x5 futsal portal.
- Mr. Andrey, we congratulate you and your team on the successful start of «Trident-Tryzub» in the
new NFPL season. Please tell us more about the opening matches of the season.
-Thank you! First of all, I want to note and thank the entire team of FC «Trident-Tryzub» for their
dedication and desire to play for our team, since this year the lion& #39;s share of the funds allocated for the
season was sent to our Cossacks at the forefront.
- Which of these matches was harder and which was easier?
- In the first match against Cadence (Illinois), where young talented guys play, we felt on the court that
we need to get together not two months before the start of the championship, but six months. The first
half completely failed, but in the second half, after some changes in the fours, everything went like
clockwork.
The second fight in Ohio, against Columbus, was also not easy to start after a seven-hour drive.
Moreover, we knew that experienced Brazilians were playing there, but, as it turned out, after a two-
year pause, they all started.
So, it& #39;s hard to say which match was easier or harder. First, that the second match was difficult. Let& #39;s see
how the first home game will go, when we don& #39;t have to go anywhere, and when we have already
scored some move.
- The team will play the next match on January 21. Is the break too long?
- We did it on purpose, because, as I said above, we need to train more in order to gain some kind of
physical shape. In addition, the holidays also make themselves felt.
- It is on January 21 that «Trident-Tryzub» will play its first home game in the new NFPL season. How
will the team prepare for the first home game?
- Everything is standard, Sergey Butenko, a coach familiar to Ukrainian futsal fans, primarily from work in
the Odessa team Uni-Laman, manages by phone, and Denis Revechin manages the organization directly.
Preparation. Job. We are finishing work. The first home game must be a winner.
- How do you plan to encourage fans to come to «Trident-Tryzub» home games?
- Our marketing is lame, to be honest, but there are 100 children in our American Futsal Academy. I
think that children will want to see how their coaches play on the court, because Denis Bolotov (our

goalkeeper), Denis Reveachin (playing coach) are also coaches of our Academy, and I am not only a
player and founder of Trident, but also a coach of the most serious age group at the Academy, where
children 4-6 years old are involved. Therefore, parents and children are encouraged to come to home
matches. Plus, Trident is the only team in the Ukrainian diaspora that plays in such an interstate
championship. where we will host teams from the states of Minnesota, Ohio, Indiana, Cincinnati,
Michigan. This is something new for our futsal fans, and not only for them.
By the way, I want to note that our team plays in a uniform made in Ukraine by the masters of the well-
known European company SWIFT from the heroic city of Irpin, which survived the war with Russian
aggressors. The management, players and fans of our club are actively involved in charitable work in the
HELP HEROES OF UKRAINE program, helping Ukraine win this war.
