When it comes to origins, here is one reason why I hold a literal 7-day view of creation...

Jesus believed in a literal view of Genesis, including placing Adam at the beginning of time (Matthew 19:4–5; Mark 10:3-9), Abel (Matthew 23:35, Luke 11:49-51), Noah (Matthew 24:37–39), Abraham (John 8:39–41, 56–58), and Lot / S***m and Gomorrah (Luke 17:28–32). Jesus also affirmed the entire writings of Moses (Matthew 5:17-19, John 5:45-47), including the validity of the Ten Commandments - which teach a literal seven-day creation period (Exodus 20:8-11). These commandments were etched in stone by the finger of God (Deuteronomy 9:10).
