I want to share with you several opportunities in the coming two months to join me in celebrating women and their achievements through my Amending America: How Women Won the Vote performances here in the greater Washington Metro area. Some events are benefits others are free.... I'll list them in chronological order with short descriptions and links for more details. I hope you'll be able to attend, enjoy my show and support the many wonderful women's organizations featuring my performances. Thank you for supporting and celebrating women!
Celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Women Winning the Vote!
Kate Campbell Stevenson uses music and theater to be an agent of change and to tell the story of the early 20th-century fight for the ratification of the 19th Amendment in a one-woman performance.
Yes, women have come a long way – but a better understanding of women’s history and their struggles empowers us all for the future. The featured women are Abigail Adams, First Lady and early women’s rights activist; Rose Crabtree, Council Member of the 1920 All-Female Town Council of Jackson Hole, Wyoming; Alice Paul, early 20th-century suffragist and co-founder of the National Women’s Party.
Amending America: How Women Won the Vote fills in some of the gaps in suffrage history, and challenges today’s audiences – particularly women and young girls – to become more active participants in the local, state and national political process. For women’s voices to be heard, more women need to run for office, serve on committees and learn how to advocate for issues they feel are important to improve our society, whether it’s on local, state or national level.

One review among several:
Kate's on-stage personality transformations were awesome! With each transformation, you eased the audience from one period in history to another, allowing us to briefly visit with each of the historical women role models that you brought into the room.

Feb 23, 1:30-5 p.m. Gala for Maryland Women's Heritage Center held at the Silver Spring Civic Center, Silver Spring, MD. This lovely event is to celebrate our valiant women of the vote. There will be coffee, wine and cheese beginning at 1:30. At 2 p.m. begins my performance of Amending America: How Women Won the Vote, followed by a panel discussion with audience participation about how we go forward in voting and supporting women's issues. There is a silent auction and reception after the discussion. I serve on the board of this wonderful organization. We house the Maryland Women's Hall of Fame and Women of Tomorrow. We create and provide beautiful traveling exhibits ( MD. Women in the Arts, MD Women Suffrage, MD Women Leaders in STEM ) that tour throughout the state. We partner with Maryland civic and non-profit organizations with timely, inspiring programs that educate and elevate women and girls and their accomplishments.... Adding HERstory to history to tell our story. This is a benefit ($75 Adults) to raise funds to help MWHC continue our excellent programs. I can guarantee that your participation will be of valuable support to our small but mighty non-profit! There is Plenty of free parking at the county parking lot directly across the street from the Civic Center --it's also a short walk from the Silver Spring Metro station.

This show is open to all ages but is an excellent time to bring students age 7 and above so pass the word... Thank you for your consideration. I hope to see you at one of my events to recognize and celebrate women who have contributed to the status of our lives today.....and hopefully will inspire you to continue their work to bring more equal and higher standards to our future lives and that of our children and grandchildren.
