Hello Ankara Babes!!! My Name is DayeAbasi (Da Ye Ah Ba See)- co-founder of Ankara Babe by June Bugs.

A Bit About me, In my Professional Career, I work with Women and Men from Diverse Cultures and Races to Create a Better Environment of Economic and Racial Justice for Low-Average Income Communities in Texas.
I Am Nigerian-born American Who Has Been Privileged To live in Different Parts of The Americas. From Living in Costa Rica to Residing in Several Cities in Texas, One Thing Has Been Evident When I’m Spotted Rocking My African Print Outfit- Everyone Love A Good African Print Piece. I Get Questions Like “How can I Get This African Outfit?, Can I Wear This to Work?, Would it be Appropriation If I Wear African Print”?

So Shout Out To My Latina, Asian, African-American and Caucasian Colleagues and Friends That Embraced My Culture and Admired my African Fits. This Is For You All And Any Other Women That Have Similar Questions or Reservations.

Styling With Knowledge 101 ☺️
This Beautiful Material Is Called Batik.
Batik is a Wax-resist Dying Technique That Initially Began in Indonesia. During the 19th Century Dutch Merchants from Indonesia Introduced Batik to a Number of African Tribes, Including the Yoruba People from Nigeria, Wolof and Soninke from Senegal and Bamana from Mali. Of Course These West African Tribes Put Their Own Raddle Dazzle On It By Using Mud, Cassava Starch and Rice Paste Instead of Wax to Resist the Dye.

Let’s Get Into What This Logo Is Giving!!!
When We Were Creating Our Logo We Made Sure It Embodies Our Values.

The White Background Connotes Unity. Very Often There Is The Fear Of Being Tagged A Culture Vulture If Non-African Women Wear Ankara ( African Print ) Are Aim At Ankara Babe Is To Break That Ice.

Pink! This Color In Our Logo Stands For Love For Ones-self and Others. Honestly The Pink Gives Legally Blond and Barbie Vibes Too So Why Not!!

Black!! Black Represents The Source Of Our Products. Africa! Nigeria To Be Exact. Nigeria Is The Most Populous Black Country In the World With 41% of Micro-businesses Owned by Women.
