Well I accidentally took a picture of a Bald Eagle.
I was testing distance on my 100-400mm lens and took a shot of this tree, thinking I'd look at it later to see how the details looked.
HAD I KNOWN, I would have walked much closer to the shore and taken a nice shot of it. I was about 200 yards from shore, so we could have been so much closer!
It's been unseasonably warm lately, but last night was cold enough to leave frost on the ground.
I caught this coating of frost on this half submerged reed, with bubbles frozen in a moment in time surrounding it.
Diving into the weekend like these geese 🦢💦

Barbed wire wrapped around a fallen post at James A. Reed Memorial Wildlife Area - Lee's Summit, Missouri
The post was attached to a gate that looked like it had been struck by a vehicle, completely snapping the post in half and knocking the gate down.
Be mindful of what is around you while you hike and always remember to leave it as good or better than you found it.

An abandoned barn - Pleasant Hill, Missouri
This is just one of the shots from this barn I'll be sharing. It was super creepy, across from it was a boarded up, abandoned house. Places you might see in a horror movie.

Bracket fungus that looks like it's seen better days - Lee's Summit, Missouri
When I found this I couldn't help but notice it resembled a rusty car. So often I find fungus that's light brown, white or even red, but I don't think I've seen such a dark brown. I kind of looks like a crumbly chocolate cake, I wouldn't eat it though.
Woodland Photography adventures are made so much better by amazing finds like this. Look all over the place when you hike, you never know what you'll find.

Deer in Fleming Park - Lee's Summit Missouri
As often as I get out in the woods, I see a ton of animals. In fact I've gotten pretty good at noticing tracks and game trails since I began this photography journey.
Woodland photography is an adventure each time, I go out. Whether I'm with family or friends, in good or bad weather, it's always a good time.

Do you prefer a sunset or a sunrise?
The sun going down can cause some very pretty colors and shadows! These shots were taken in Independence, Missouri right before sunset.

A nice trail to cardinals and caves at Unity Village, Missouri
It's always pleasant to find some wildlife as we hike though the woods. Cardinals are definitely in my top ten birds, it's always neat to be able to see one.
The Unity Village trail includes a fun cave that you walk on as a bridge and can explore as well. My only complaint is that there is quite a bit of graffiti all throughout the cave, which kind of takes away from the beauty of it all.
