VSG Debate Closing Statements
Thank you to The Vanderbilt Hustler for hosting!
Voting opens tomorrow, March 24 -- let's all turn out and change VSG for the better!
We are proud to support this initiative, and we will do all we can to support it further as President and Vice President of VSG. Sign here: http://chng.it/TsS9Lr7HBj , great work!
We spent spring break lobbying Congress on issues that we’re passionate about — and we’ll take that passion straight to VSG.
It’s campaign canine Sunday!!! One like = one good boy for Ted, who is leading our effort to include more kibble and less chocolate in the meal plan.
Over 80% of Vanderbilt students either did not vote or voted for outsider candidates. Why keep the status quo when so many students feel excluded?
Meet , our Student Relations Chair!! “From my experience working in leadership with Jared in an International Advocacy Organization and leading Vanderbilt trips to global areas of conflict, I can wholeheartedly say that he has an unparalleled ability to shrewdly engage in complex topics regarding identity, multiculturalism, faith and intersectionality, and even-handedly navigate areas of cross-cultural difference. Working alongside Jared in his leadership roles, I’ve consistently witnessed how he places the highest importance on appreciating all who surround him as individuals, who experience life on campus through their own, intersectional identities, just as he does.”
Meet , our Director of Digital Marketing!! As VP of Membership Experience for , Grace constantly strives to build a nurturing and inclusive environment on campus. “I stand with Jake and Jared because they stand with us. They’ll always fight for the change we need — nay, deserve — and they’ll always have our backs.”
Meet , our Director of Strategic Communications!
“Jared is an individual who puts his all into whatever he’s doing. Whether it’s working on DFI with a team of fifteen people to organize large events through Hillel, or reaching out to freshmen and making sure they’re included, this is someone who will never leave you hanging. He worked his campaign around the complaints that he’s heard from students - that is what truly sets his promises apart from other VSG candidates.”
63% of students felt so ignored by VSG that they didn’t vote. If they all voted for us, we could finally reform the system for good.
If you feel ignored by VSG, we will represent you. Vote to have your voices heard.
Thank you ! We want to represent everyone who feels ignored by VSG.
Thank you for your support! We’ll see you in the General Election!

Meet , another member of our policy team! “Jared and Jake’s platform is truly student-centric and simplifies abstract issues that VSG has long fought for into concrete problems with concrete solutions. Their solution to increasing financial inclusivity through free textbooks and feminine products actualizes many of the goals VSG has been pushing for since my time on the health and wellness committee.”
Meet , our Senior Policy Advisor! A Californian by birth and a campus activist by profession, Axel has helped us design our platform to maximize the Vanderbilt student experience. “I’ve known Jared and Jake for years, and I know that they’ll never give up on the fight for what students deserve. They know what we all know — that VSG needs to do more to improve student life — and they’ll get the job done.”
We believe in fighting for what you deserve: free printing, free textbooks, free feminine hygiene products, and campus dining reform.
We've heard reports of our friends being trolled and blocked on social media, and we just want them to know that we love and support them no matter what.
We're for unity, not division. Join us if you want to fight for what you deserve!
We hope everyone is home safely after everything that's happened. Once again, if we can be of service in any way, do not hesitate to reach out.
Today, the VSG campaign begins again after a week's delay. Join us to fight for free printing, free laundry, and free textbooks.

Bauman-Rome for VSG 2020 Fighting for what you deserve: free printing, free laundry, free textbooks, and campus dining reform.
BAUMAN-ROME 2020 STATEMENT ON COVID-19 AND THE CAMPAIGN:
As all Vanderbilt students are now aware, the university will have no classes this week, and no in-person classes until at least the end of March. Likewise, all large in-person events are cancelled, which includes campaign-related debates, caucuses, and meetings.
With this in mind, the VSG Elections Committee has decided to postpone the election for one week. The new dates are:
• Primary Election: March 19th @ 8am – March 20th @ 12pm
• General Election: March 24th @ 8am – March 25th @ 12pm
Additionally, VSG has decided to pause active campaigning until March 16th at 8:00am. We are thus required to make our social media pages private until then. Our campaign will follow all rules and regulations associated with these developments.
More importantly, it is our sincerest hope that all Vanderbilt students and faculty remain healthy, safe, and secure in these chaotic times. Please make smart decisions and look out for yourselves and for each other; there is nothing more vital than your health and safety.
Our best thoughts are with all of you and your families. Let us know if we can be of any service.
We look forward to continuing our fight for free printing, free laundry, free textbooks, and campus dining reform next week.
With love,
Bauman-Rome for VSG 2020

At six cents per page, printing full articles and presentations for classes can cost upwards of $5 per document. There is no logic to a university that charges students thousands of dollars per year but still cannot subsidize printing fees – especially when our printers seldom work properly. Vanderbilt must make printing free for all students, and it must also update its printing facilities.
Bauman-Rome: Free Printing. Vote Bauman-Rome for VSG 2020 for Free Printing!
Some of our students struggle to pay for basic necessities. Other students think they can afford to attend, but then find themselves caught off guard by all the extra fees and costs.
No student should have to pay more than is absolutely necessary. This is why we will fight for free laundry, free printing, free textbooks, and campus dining reform.
Students want free printing, free textbooks, free feminine hygiene products, and campus dining reform.
We refuse to make vague promises. We will fight for the change we need -- right now.
