Sam Scaffide - Twinsburg Mayor
Mayor Sam Scaffide City of Twinsburg.
Mosquito spraying is scheduled for July 22.
The Summit County Public Health Department manages mosquito populations to protect public health and welfare. They use an integrated pest management system, basing decisions on mosquito surveillance. Factors that may trigger an evening mosquito control application include:
⌲ Mosquitoes testing positive for West Nile Virus in traps
⌲ An increase in the number of Culex species that carry West Nile Virus
⌲ Severe weather conditions like flooding
Spraying in SE Twinsburg and Twinsburg Township area is scheduled for July 22, starting at approximately 8:30 p.m. and continuing until completed. In case of bad weather, the spray schedule may be adjusted.
Due to electrical damage in early May, the Twinsburg City School District will shut off power to their high school complex for testing and repairs on Monday, July 22, 2024.
The Fitness Center, sharing the same electrical grid, will also be closed during this time. However, after-hours access will be available from 4:00 to 6:00 a.m. on that day. The Fitness Center will reopen once testing is complete, which is expected to be by 12:00 p.m. We will update you if the closure time changes.
We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. For questions or to register for programs, please contact our Parks and Recreation Department at 330-963-8722.
Due to the extreme temperatures, Mayor Scaffide is pleased to announce that the outdoor waterpark will be open free of charge to residents of Twinsburg from Tuesday, June 18th to Friday, June 21st, from 12pm to 5pm.
This special opening is in response to the Heat Emergency and is for City of Twinsburg residents who do not have a season pass.
Regular operating hours of 10:30am to 7:30pm will continue for all season pass holders, including those from Twinsburg Township and Reminderville.
Those aged 16 and older without a season pass must show a photo ID with their current address. If the ID doesn't show the current address, additional proof of residency will be required. Children aged 15 and under without a season pass must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
The safety of all visitors is our top priority. Therefore, standard pool rules apply, along with these additional safety measures:
• Entrance may be restricted when capacity is reached until some visitors leave.
• Large pool floats and toys are not allowed.
• Chairs are limited; please bring your own towels or blankets and reserve chairs for adults.
• Some features like slides and diving boards may not be available.
• The BURG concession stand will be open, but please expect longer waits and possibly limited menu options.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we work to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone during this period of extreme heat.

Twinsburg Residents: Let's Talk About Backyard Campfires!
Hey, neighbors! This is the time of year we hear a lot of buzz around backyard campfires. With regulations from both the Environmental Protection Agency and the Ohio Division of Forestry, things can get a bit confusing. We’ll try to shed some light on this issue.
First off, it's important to remember that while the City of Twinsburg doesn't make these regulations, our Fire Department is tasked with enforcing them. We know it's not easy to keep track, especially with laws changing and temporary bans popping up, like Ohio's current spring burn ban which went into effect on March 1, 2024.
This year alone, we've already had to respond to several burn complaints. A recent case involved a homeowner burning freshly cut tree remnants - a big no-no that not only breaks the rules but also poses serious wildfire risks. Plus, in our community, sticking to the 1,000-foot rule for yard waste disposal is pretty much impossible. But don't worry, there's a solution for your yard waste! Our service department offers curbside disposal for downed tree remnants from April through November. Our service crews make one complete pass through the city each month beginning on the first Monday of the month. You can find more details about this program here, https://bit.ly/3vojpU4.
Now, onto the hot topic: campfires. Good news! Your cozy, crackling campfires are generally okay if you're using a commercial fire pit with a top screen and sticking to seasoned firewood. We all cherish those warm nights by the fire. Investing in a fire pit, like a Solo Stove, and using the right kind of wood can significantly reduce smoke and, by extension, complaints or visits from our friends at the fire department.
Stay safe, burn smart, and let's keep enjoying those beautiful Twinsburg nights by the fire responsibly!

Thank you to our Twinsburg dispatchers for all you do for our city by responding to our calls as well as others. We truly appreciate you.

It never gets old for me to swear in new firefighter/paramedics and policeman for the safety of our residence and visitors. Such an honor.
On behalf of the City of Twinsburg, I extend heartfelt congratulations to Destiny Church on the occasion of their 20th anniversary. It was an honor to participate in your celebration on Sunday, March 17th, witnessing firsthand Destiny Church's significant impact on our community over the past two decades.
I am grateful for the opportunity to share in this celebration and extend my thanks to co-pastors Trent Thomas, Calvin Brown, and Benjamin Cook, as well as to all the presenters. Your collective contributions made the day unforgettable.
The journey of Destiny Church, from its inception in Twinsburg in 2004 to becoming a beloved church family for many from diverse backgrounds, is truly remarkable. Their innovative approach to ministry, especially through The Edge Sports & Arts Academy, demonstrates a unique way of serving and connecting with the community.
I am confident in Destiny Church's vision continuing to flourish, touching more lives and making a lasting difference in our community and beyond.
With warmest regards and deepest gratitude,
Mayor Sam Scaffide
What an honor it was to swear Officer Joe Nealon in as he begins his career in law enforcement.
Health, Blessings, Happiness
Just when I thought I was done opening Christmas gifts I got this great gift and surprise from the Twinsburg Fire Department. Thank you so much to all of you for the awesome jacket and for all you do for our community.
Happy Kwanzaa to all who celebrate.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays Twinsburg!
Thank you to the residents for the honor of selecting me to continue to serve as Mayor of the City of Twinsburg. I have had the incredible fortune of being a member of the Twinsburg City Council for 20 years; and I could not be prouder to represent our city as your Mayor. Twinsburg enjoys a rich heritage, strong sense of community and fiscal stability. I look forward to working with city council to continue to make decisions to improve and strengthen our city and to protect and enhance the quality of life for our residents.
Many changes have occurred for the City in the last 6-months. In July, we said goodbye to Mayor Yates who made the decision to move on to the next chapter of his life. Beginning in January 2023, we welcome a new face to the dais, Councilmember Jeff Deeds, who was selected by council to fill my unexpired term of the Ward 1 council seat. Jeff has lived in Twinsburg for 27-years and has spent his career in real estate development. He is married to Sharon, and their three children all graduated from Twinsburg High School. I want to thank my fellow councilmembers for their dedication and support. It was my pleasure serving with them and I wish them good health and look forward to continue working with them as Mayor.
As 2022 comes to a close and we share special moments with family and friends, let me take this opportunity to wish you all the happiest and healthiest of holiday seasons. The true spirit of Twinsburg goes far beyond the sights and sounds of the season. It is found in the genuine care we feel for one another, and the collective effort we make in supporting our neighbors throughout the year.
A special thanks goes out to our active military and first responders who will be standing watch while we enjoy the holiday festivities with our family and friends.
I would also like to commend all of our community volunteers who put the needs and enjoyment of others before their own every day of the year. They enhance our quality of life and exemplifies what building community is all about.
I also express my appreciation to all City of Twinsburg employees for their dedication, commitment, and service to our community. When the call for service goes out, whatever the circumstance – they are the ones who answer. I have always been so proud of our employees for the outstanding work that they do and am now excited to work with them in my role as Mayor. I believe that we have the most dedicated employees serving our citizens.
To our business community, your success is our success, and we are incredibly grateful and proud of the strides you’ve made this year despite our uncertain economy. It has been my pleasure visiting with the diverse set of businesses that make up the fabric of commerce in our city and meet those individuals who run and work in the facilities of Twinsburg. Along with our Economic Development team here at City Hall, I look forward to visiting many more of you in 2023.
My warmest wishes to you and your loved ones for a Merry Christmas, a joyous holiday season, and a happy, healthy, and successful New Year. May God bless you and your families and our great City of Twinsburg.
Warmest regards,
Mayor Sam Scaffide
