Over a year ago this young Army soldier on his way home on leave stopped to provide first aid in a fatal crash on I-20. He was so important in saving one young man’s life.
We wrote his commanding general with his heroic efforts.
On Friday at 11:30 am he was presented his metal for heroism!
God bless you Sergeant First Class Donahue! Thank God for our service members!
There is a round bright object in that sky and the temperature is a breezy 54 degrees. Most of the snow has melted off and the roadways are clear.
The past four days have been packed with a lot of stuck semi trucks and cars. Many crashed vehicles and a lot of motor assists.
I want to thank our community for staying inside and abiding weather warnings.
A special thank you to our Officers who worked countless hours ensuring the safety of our community and visitors. It has been a long four days but again you all performed flawlessly. This community is truly blessed to have all of you. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your dedication and service to this city.
The weather outside is frightful the roads are not delightful. Under the ice is snow so if you go please please drive slow.
The roads are snow covered with a sheet of ice underneath. Please if you don’t have to be out grabe some hot chocolate and snuggle in.
If you must travel please slow down, all crashs we work yesterday were caused by unsafe speed for conditions. Allow yourself plenty of time to get to your destination
Here is s picture of North Street looking both East and West
Please be safe
If you have to travel please check out this website. You can’t get instant road conditions updates.
If you can’t get the site to come up you can also call 1-800-452-9292 and get Texas road updates
As of 8:30 pm there is sleet and the earlier rain has now frozen . City streets are slick and there are patch’s of ice that a driver cannot see ( black ice)
The interstate and access roads are also covered with a layer of ice.
If you don’t have to be out please stay home. The forecast is calling for snow later this evening.
Please be safe
Road conditions continue to worsen as the temperatures drop and the earlier moisture freezes.
If you don’t have to be outside please stay off the roadways.
TXDOT is working around the clock clear roadways.
City streets are slick and less traveled roadways will deteriorate as temperatures continue to drop.
We have worked multiple crashes today. Please be safe and if you have to journey out play allow yourself plenty of time to arrive at your destination.

Tye Police Department K9s Baker and Ena have received bullet and stab protective vests thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. The vests were sponsored by Kathleen Jacaruso of New Bern, NC and embroidered with the sentiment “In memory of Mary A. Jacaruso”. We are so grateful for these vests. Chief Strong the Chief of Police for the city of Tye stated Thanks to this outstanding organization whose goal is to protect our K-9 partners. We cannot thank them enough.
