NEW YEAR, SAME AMAZING YOU 🤍

We're so excited to introduce our January 2023 workshop! New Year, Same Amazing You: Yoga and Body Acceptance with Lisa Fuller is Sunday, January 15th, 2-4PM.

About the workshop:
Join Lisa as we explore the cultural messages we get about our bodies and explore the ways yoga can improve body acceptance. This two-hour workshop will provide resources for managing inner dialog, tools for developing gratitude for the body, and a gentle, trauma-informed yoga practice appropriate for yogis of all levels, including first time practitioners. Modifications will be offered and you are welcome to make the practice work for your body.

About the teacher:
Lisa Fuller, RYT-200/YFA-35, has trained with Dianne Bondy and Amber Karnes’ Yoga for All and believes yoga is an ideal tool for managing body image issues. Her passion is teaching beginners and including people who have a hard time walking into group exercise classes. She is a Licensed Associate Therapist and approaches each yoga practice from a trauma informed perspective.

There are limited spots available! Book your spot by visiting us in-studio, calling 501-236-0108, or on the Mindbody app!

We were able to give $300 toward a yoga retreat scholarship to the sweetest exchange student from the Ukraine! Her hometown had just been bombed on Monday before the retreat, so we were grateful to come alongside her and offer space and breath. Thank you for your help in supporting her!

We ended up with an extra medium and large orange shirt! So, if you want to grab one, let me know! They are $20 and the money will be put aside for a scholarship for next years retreat!

The only word I can find to describe this Yoga Retreat is PERFECT! The beautiful women that ‘showed up,’ like REALLY ‘showed up’ have continued to amaze me as I recap the weekend. We want to thank you all for joining us in what we want to offer people, humans, women… Our hearts so desire to share beauty, healing, love, and freedom. Our hearts are full of gratitude!! I found this poem that really speaks to me as I process the retreat I’d like to share it.

“If there’s one thing that I may tell you Let it be: YOU ARE YOUR HOME,
Your body is the only house
That you will ever truly own,
Maybe it’s got some broken windows
And there are tear-stains on the floors,
Maybe you lock the things you wish you weren’t
Behind it’s many doors,
But there is wisdom on it’s bookshelves
And a laugh to light the rooms,
There’s a vase upon the table
Where the love you’ve grown all blooms,
Dreams sit on the mantle piece
Next to kindness and your trust,
Where you use them all so often
They have no time to collect dust,
So please don’t look at mansions
With that envy in your eyes,
There’s more that makes a home
Than it’s appearance or it’s size,
Your body is your shelter
So you deserve to love it all,
Don’t let the world stand round outside
And tell you how to paint your walls,
How lucky that you have somewhere
To protect you from the night,
And if there’s cracks left from the past ?
Well then they just let in more light.”

There’s so much to pull from the changing of seasons. October has a special place in my heart. The heat becomes dulled and the trees show their glory.

Take those pauses over the weekend where you slow down those thoughts and your breath. These are intentional actions.

Years of repeated exposure to physical and emotional abuse inevitably taught many survivors to develop a heightened defense mechanism that walls them in and makes them feel unsafe in a relationship.

Longing for a romantic connection can be particularly challenging for survivors and their partners as their defense mechanism may be easily set off by conventional expressions of endearment and affection like physical touch and sexual intimacy.

A history of traumatic experiences has taught the brain to miscontrue advances of love, care, and fondness as danger signals.

Available treatment procedures often focuses on addressing the neurobiological aspects of trauma. In this regard, survivors and their partners or loved ones need to be intentional about practicing compassion in difficult and challenging times.

Boundaries, who needs them?! ✋🏼

ℹ🌿 SETTING A BOUNDARY -- BOUNDARIES IN RELATIONSHIPS + WEEKLY BOUNDARY REMINDERS INFOGRAPHIC | BY Lisa A. Romano Breakthrough Life Coach

Often times we don't realize we need a boundary until it is too late.

When we find ourselves raging, crying, yelling, screaming, whining, feeling sorry for ourselves, complaining about who did what, or who said what, we may not be aware that a boundary may have prevented the messy drama we end up having to navigate.
