Jessica Fons had a great time this week speaking with 8th graders at Lewisburg Middle School's Career Day about what it takes to become a registered dietitian! It was inspiring to share insights into the field and encourage students to explore careers in nutrition and health.
Did you know that classifying overweight or obesity as a disease can have two very different impacts? 🤔
On one hand, some people may feel that labeling their appearance as a "condition" feels harsh and critical, which can fuel negative bias and judgment.
On the other hand, many find comfort in this classification because it emphasizes the complexity of obesity—showing that weight struggles are not simply a matter of willpower or lifestyle. This shift supports the idea that weight concerns may require additional support, care, or even medication. It helps us see the bigger picture: overweight and obesity are often influenced by genetics, hormones, mental health, and more.
Let’s reframe the conversation with empathy and acknowledge that everyone’s journey is unique. 💚 Recognizing obesity as a disease should open the door to compassion, not criticism. Let’s continue to support those seeking care in a way that uplifts them!
A good dietitian knows when it’s time for clients to move forward. Dietitian visits aren’t meant to last forever—they’re meant to be a step toward progress, empowering you to take control of your health with confidence. When it’s time, we celebrate your growth!
Struggling with emotional eating? It's common to turn to food for comfort, but addressing the root of your emotions leads to lasting empowerment. Food is not an emotional solution - it's simply nourishment. You got this!
Sadiewell dietitian Jessica Fons had a great time representing our team at the Mental Health Trunk-or-Treat event at Desoto Central High School yesterday! It was a fantastic turnout and a fun experience!
How do you view food? Understanding your eating style is the first step towards a healthier relationship with food. Aim for balance and fuel your body with what it needs!
Sometimes, clients come to a session not fully sure what they’re looking for, and that’s completely okay. In fact, those are often the most transformative sessions. When we allow ourselves to explore the uncertainty, especially around our health, we create space for deeper growth, self-discovery, and healing. If you're feeling unsure, know that you're not alone—and that it’s a powerful starting point on your journey toward greater well-being.

Reality check:
It’s all about balance! Some days might look like fast food on the go, and other days might be perfectly portioned meals packed with nutrients. Guess what? Both are okay! It’s not about perfection, but about balance and moderation.
Remember, all foods can fit when you're mindful of your choices. Listen to your body, nourish it well, and don't stress over every meal!
The way we speak to ourselves matters. It’s time to shift from harsh, critical thoughts to self-compassion and kindness. You are more than a number, more than what you wear, and you deserve to enjoy life without guilt. Start thinking this instead of that.
Embrace the small changes that can lead to a healthier, more positive mindset.
Which thought do you need to replace today?
If you’re taking a GLP-1 medication (like Ozempic or Wegovy), it can help to connect with others going through similar experiences. We're excited to announce our new online support group, which will provide a safe, non-judgmental space to share, learn, and feel supported.

All foods can fit into a healthy diet. Yes, even a brownie! Oftentimes we put food into a category as being either "good" or "bad". The truth is no food is "good" or "bad". It's just food - it has no emotional context. It simply fuels your body. Yes, some foods fuel your body differently, but all foods can fit.
