Parenting in today’s social media world is challenging but help is on the way as new legislation was proposed to give parents more control over their child’s social media interactions and usage. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) just introduced the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA). The bill would require social media companies to protect the personal and online activity information for all users 16 years or younger. If the bill passes, technology companies would also be required to disable addictive product features and allow families to opt out of algorithmic recommendations. ISAFE supports these changes and the opportunity for parents to control their child’s digital identity and where and how it is being used. Check out https://buff.ly/3oBNlFO to learn more. Media
