Donkeys belong to the same family as horses and zebras & therefore they can breed with them as well.

A group of donkeys is called a herd, but you might also hear them referred to as a pace of donkeys.

Donkeys have incredible hearing thanks to their large ears. They can hear another donkey's call from over 60 miles away in the right conditions.

The gestation period for a donkey is about 12 months, one of the longest for land animals.

They are intelligent and loyal animals and can be trained for a variety of purposes. They are great guardian animals for sheep & effective at deterring smaller predators like coyotes or stray dogs through their loud braying, charging behavior, and kicking ability. 🐑

Donkeys are known for their intelligence and excellent memory, they’re capable of navigating challenging terrains and remembering routes, locations and people for 25 years.

Unfortunately, donkeys often suffer from poor living conditions, overwork, and lack of medical care. World Donkey Day highlights the need for better welfare standards and practices.
