The Ballad of Leslie Cochran by The Flying Raye This is a song I write about an Austin icon, Leslie Cochran. Leslie was quite possibly the most famous homesless dude this side of just about anywhere. I met...
Hey y'all! When I first moved to Austin way back in 2000, one of the first friends I made was Courtney Alexis Santana... During the day we'd smile and dial and grind at a soulless call center, but at night Brandi Raye and I would go watch Courtney perform with her band, The Atlantics. All these years later Courtney and I are still buds and she's still rocking the stage. As a matter of fact, she just collaborated with me on my forthcoming album.
Courtney Alexis Santana is one of the most talented singers and songwriters I know and she's currently putting the finishing touches on a new solo album set to be released this summer. I've already heard a couple of the tracks on it, and to say they're amazing would be a wild understatement. They're absolutely BRILLIANT!
Getting these albums recorded, mixed, mastered, etc ain't easy and sometimes, as independent musicians, need a little help to make it to the finish line.
That said, I'm posting the link to Courtney's gofundme... She's already halfway to her goal. If you can help her bring this thing home she and I would be appreciate it.
PS - Courtney, ever the pioneer, will be releasing the first ever album under a new term/genre she coined, Afro-Americana. So if you donate you will undoubtedly go down in history as a good-hearted person who brought new music to this world that so badly needs it!
