Words I thought I’d never have to say: I’m closing my shop 💔

I’ve been avoiding this post for a while because I just wasn’t sure what my soul was telling me .. for now this decision is temporary, and I’m hoping to re-open and re-brand once I have the time and energy again to put into my business...

I opened Quartz and Things in 2020 and these last 4 years have been so fulfilling, so freeing, so fun…

but the past few months have been really hard keeping up, and I’ve realized I’ve completely lost my drive, my ambition, and my creativity that goes into making my shop what it is, and that tells me it’s time for a little mental health break 😮‍💨…

in the meantime, I’m REALLY hoping to get rid of at least 85% of my inventory before finally closing up…

look at these little agate candies all the way from the Gobi Desert 🏜️

the “eyes” on these rare pieces come from years and years of tumbling and traveling through desert sands after erupting from volcanic lava, how cool?!

it’s hard to find this stone in it’s completely natural state, the raw color is usually brown (brownish red, brownish green) and not too pretty to look at, so 90% of the time these cuties are treated as soon as their dug up to enhance the color (either by heat or dye). I’ve grown to appreciate enhanced crystals more over the years of collecting, but if you’re not into buying anything altered I suggest steering clear of these 😉

Transparency post: I am struggling pretty hard right now. I don’t think I’ve struggled this much financially since I was in college 😅 my husband was laid off in December and hasn’t worked since, sales are the lowest that they have ever been in the entire 4 years I’ve been in business, I’m even contemplating on closing my shop 🥺 A vet bill from 3 years ago from a $3k surgery that didn’t work on my pup who passed away after was just put on my credit report and caused my score to go down by like 100 points, so much debt has accrued in my name over the past few months, all my profits I’ve been getting from my shop have been going towards bills so I have no money left over for new inventory. This is the 3rd year in a row I won’t be getting a tax refund back, and my basement is still a complete mess. I know that this stress is causing health issues for me, but It’s just one thing after another after another after another, and I’m just like when will the sun come out again, I’m looking for a life raft but it feels like there is none in sight 🥺 ok here is the end of my soap box post, feels good to release this and if you’re struggling right now like me I want to let you know we’re in this together 🩷🫶🏼
