Thank you to everyone that has been so very patient and understanding with me as we navigate grandpa’s loss. My appreciation goes beyond words. All of the condolences and support has made this transition in life a little lighter.

On that note, I ask that you please bare with me for the next couple of weeks as I reach out to reschedule and shift appointments as we are navigating life tasks, circumstances, appointments and care that needs to be attended to. I will be turning online scheduling off for a short time, until my current clients are rescheduled and given first opportunity. Once that is caught up, I will turn it back on and update everyone!

It is never easy for me to reach out to clients to have to reschedule (and reschedule again). The last thing I want is to be thought of is of an inconsistent LMT. I know how much my clients rely on our sessions for their mental and physical health, however when life things happen, many things need to be taken care of and rescheduling has to happen.

I appreciate everyone’s patience with me as my family and I continue to navigate events, care for ourselves, and for grandma! 💜💜💜

Robert "Bob" Edward Smith Obituary 2024 - Ptak Funeral Home 05/08/2024

As I was organizing grandpas desk the other day after he passed, I came across an email he sent to himself and printed. It’s dated September 1, 2014.

The title is “to celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most requested column I’ve ever written.” (Written by 90 year old, Regina Brett).

Grandpa underlined the ones he resonated with and wanted to remember the most. I wanted to share 💜

1. Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good.

2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

3. Life is too short, enjoy it.

4. You don’t have to win every argument. Stay true to yourself.

5. It’s never too late to be happy. But it’s all up to you and no one else.

6. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don’t take no for an answer.

7. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.

8. Always choose life.

9. Don’t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

10. Don’t audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.

11. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

12. The best is yet to come.

He and I used to have some deep conversations about many aspects of life, from business to spiritual to medical to the great outdoors and everything in between. I was lucky enough to be given the insights of a 91 year old always willing to teach me something. He was an often stubborn man, functioned much of his life as a business man but had some soft spots and I like to believe his grandkids were one of them. He absolutely had a kind heart in there and I love that I got to witness that💜

Please continue to bear with me on rescheduling and contacting clients back in the coming week! I appreciate everyone’s patience with me as our family navigates arrangements and life things💜

Oh man… when I posted this last year, I had no idea that I would need to read these words today.

In my years of caring for others, I’ve watched many make their transition. Being on the other side, is never easy but a reminder of what my clients are feeling and moving through.

Yesterday morning, as I went to check on my grandparents as I do almost everyday, when I walked into my grandpas room to wake him, I came upon him that he peacefully passed away in his sleep.

At almost 92 years old, he lived a very full, adventurous, and accomplished life. I will miss my business lessons and deep conversations with him dearly. I have to add that this was the grandpa that gave me the mushroom pants and I will continue to dance in them holding his memory. My heart is heavy today.

Tell the people in your life how much they mean to you, even if it feels weird. You never know when the last time will be💜

Please bear with me as I cancel appointments and navigate my schedule to adjust appropriately in the coming week. If you are on my schedule for the next couple of days and have not heard from me, you will soon.

Thank you💜🙏💜🙏

BAYLOR UNIVERSITY PUBLISHES LARGEST STUDY EVER ON MASSAGE THERAPY USE

July 2024

“Licensed massage therapists ought to be respected as mainstream practitioners, whose profession provides a therapeutic approach not just to address pain and functional challenges but to foster wellness and overall well-being, physical and emotional.

Everyone can benefit from working with a skilled massage therapist. They’re the hidden gems in the healthcare system.” - Jeff Levin, Ph.D., M.P.H., University Professor of Epidemiology and Population Health. (Robert Rogers/Baylor University)

BAYLOR UNIVERSITY PUBLISHES LARGEST STUDY EVER ON MASSAGE THERAPY USE

July 2024

"Many people receive massage therapy and for many reasons. But according to a new study – the largest and most comprehensive ever conducted on the subject – the prevalence of visits to massage therapists is higher than one might have imagined and the reasons may be surprising."

“What our study shows is that it’s probably not helpful any longer to label massage as an ‘alternative’ therapy, with all of the marginality that the term conveys.”

I truly love all of the artwork that is in my space and resonate with each piece in its own way but I want to take a moment to highlight two of my absolute favorites 💜💜💜

“Key to the universe” whispered to me from across the room and I knew it was eventually coming to Sacred Senses. This is my newest in the station. The amazing artists name behind this creation is Andrew and he is the owner of Bluebayouarts! You can find his art at Ottawa Community Thrift💜

“The Great Escape” sang to me the moment I laid eyes on her and knew she had to be mine…not to keep for myself, but to share with my clients as they “escape” for a little while and allow themselves to connect with nature, connect with themselves and their senses. I could say so much more about this piece and what it sings to me but I love for clients to experience it themselves! This piece was created by Leslie and she pours her heart into her community mission as the owner of Ottawa Community Thrift! 💜💜💜💜

My heart is so full being able to share these with others💜

I came across this post this morning as I was scrolling and felt compelled to share. When I think about the work that Emily and I do, the modalities that we offer,(Emily with myofascial and grief for myself). This is why we do what we do. It is so important to give our bodies a space to let go, to create space within the body that can be filled with more love, more acceptance, more beauty. This does not mean we can’t miss our loved ones or mourn or grieve that loss. It means we are honoring, accepting, and channeling our pain outside of the body. When our body holds onto the losses and traumas of life, they can begin to create physical issues. Let’s work and process through them💜

Our modalities are very different but pair together beautifully to support healing from within.

**UPDATE: I have collected all 3💜 thank you to everyone who was willing to step forward for me. I appreciate you more than I can put into words💜🙏

Hey everyone💜

I am working on trying to get a business grant to help with the cost of an ADA compliant electric massage table, to better help my clients with more accessibility along with other related supplies. I am looking for 3 clients that would be willing to write a reference about the therapeutic services they have received from me. It doesn’t have to be long, just enough to explain how I have helped you💜
I have 72 hours to get these turned in.

Please send the references to [email protected] so that I am able to save them and upload them to my portal.

Thank you so muchhhh!!!💜🙏

*This is a screenshot of the email I received.

What is a Fascial Voice?
That may sound weird… but it is oh so cool.
Lean in & quiet your mind…
It can be subtle, it can be loud, it can come on quickly, & it may be slow to appear

Your Fascial voice is unique to you. Your fascial voice is sensory information revealed to you through quieting your mind. The ability to not think, just feel. Sometimes the fascial voice is communicated through emotions or movements. It’s the beauty of not trying to figure it out & allowing to take your foot off the brakes

Why is this important?
It’s important because your body is intelligent. Your body had everything inside it that is required to heal from restrictions.
The quicker & easier we can get our minds out of the equation, the easier it’ll be for your bodies to do the work & release those restrictions. The fascial voice is the key to knowing where those restrictions are.

I am a John F Barnes trained therapist & am wanting to give you your power back. It’s been to long that we have been dealing with ”umbrellas diagnosis “ that we are told to live with or medicating symptoms rather than getting to the root cause. Myofascial Release(MFR) is a noninvasive magnificent way to get your life back. We don’t need to settle for masking symptoms.

Disclaimer: I am not saying to stop your current medical plan. I am not saying to stop any medication you are taking. Please feel free to consult your PCP/MD/NP or whoever you see for your medical help. This is not medical advice or prescription of any kind as that is out of my scope of practice.
I am however saying that there may be a better way & it may be as simple as MFR.

✨Lunches with Lexanne ✨

There are days that we just need someone to vibe with, listen to us, have a conversation with or just sit in silence next to.

My favorite part of my job is being able to connect with people on a human level. Not all of us have that in our lives and sometimes we just need to “have lunch with a friend”.

I have decided that each month, I will post available days to join me, via zoom, for a virtual 30 minute lunch from 12:15-12:45! We can eat, chat, not chat, whatever the vibe is but we can do it together from the comfort of our own space!

April dates are:
22nd- Booked🫶
23rd- Booked 🫶

May dates are:
15th
21st
28th
30th

If you are interested, please private message me your email address to set up the zoom meeting, with the date you would like!💜

These are one on one lunches and kept completely confidential 💜

Connection. Unity. Community.
Compassion. Peace. Gratitude. Beauty. Creation.

As I sit in reflection of this last weekend, these are some of the words that most resonate with me. I am still very much letting it all soak in but I would like to share things💜

This journey we are on is not linear. Life is not linear. We have all been given a life and it’s meant to be lived, felt, expressed, moved through, shared, and cherished.

If you are going to grind, which most of us do, let it be something you love to do. The fact I was able to volunteer my work AND experience this with my family is beyond what words can express.

Peace in my heart and knowing that I get to experience this feeling of connection, community, and unity with like minded humans next to my family brings me so much gratitude.

I am constant change. Learning to flow along the way. New experiences bring new understanding and insights that shift my mindset and move me through to the next level of consciousness that I am meant to
achieve. Lewis Carrol said “it’s no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then.” It makes more sense to me now more than ever before.

Ra, Thank you for your rawness and
vulnerability. You and many others, are why I do what I do. Allowing yourself to connect on a soul level, allowing me to witness you moving through emotions while I was able to create a space that is safe to do that, humbles me and brings so much gratitude to my heart. You are a reminder of the importance of the work I provide to the souls I cross with. Humanness at its most basic form💜🙏

Thank you so much to the Missouri Eclipse Festival for welcoming our family and thank you to Jac for allowing me to massage some of the staff and being apart of this amazing experience 💜🙏
